Best value hotels in Bangkok

Recommended Posts

I've got to meet my girlfriend at the airport and want to stay a couple of days in Bangkok around 12th December.

I was going to use some points and stay in the JW Marriott but I understand her mother is coming for a day as well and I'm not putting her up there !

So, I need a cheap / mid range hotel, preferably with a pool and in the Sukhumvit area.

I know the Woraburi, Majestic, Dynasty and all the 4* and 5* places but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be most grateful.

It doesn't have a pool but the Town Lodge at the end of soi 18 is pretty good value. Standard rooms 1200, deluxe rooms 1400 and jacuzzi suites 2800 all including ABF (although I can't comment on that as I'm a lazy bastard and never get up in time for breakfast).

I stayed in the deluxe room and would say its about the same size as the deluxe in the Majestic Suites but is fitted to a much higher standard. The place is pretty new, all rooms have DVD players and cable tv, in-room safes and the staff are really friendly. It's right at the end of soi 18 though so depends how far out of the way you want to be, but there is a free tuk tuk to get you to sukhumvit. There are a few pics of the rooms on the BTF site.

If you book trough agency for about 1200-1500 bahts a night with ABF you have Royal Benja soi 5, really nice the bathroom is with separate sower and bath, The Sommerset soi 15, small and lovely and the Manhattan soi 15 old but good. The Ambassador Tower can be also a good choice. I stay in all those hotels.

Hi torrenova.

I stayed at the Land Mark on Sukumvit around the corner from Soi 4 when the Dynasty Hotel was fully booked.

It is a very nice place to stay and I think I got a price of 3800 baht at the time over the internet or email.

I think if your going to intertain your GF's mother, you need to get off of Soi 4, so she doesn't think your a whore monger.

Rama Gardens:

A luxurious resort in the city occupy two low-rise wings, located only 5 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes to down town. It consists of 500 newly refurbished rooms and suites situated amidst a well manicured 26 acres of gardens with two lake-sized swimming pools plus a modern sports complex. It is a premier property surrounded by lush greenery acres of grass expanses, tranquil lotus ponds and tropical floral all year round

Stayed here via Doghaus after Kanchanaburi trip lasy year, the new building (grand courtyard) is extremely well appointed and the rooms we stayed (executive deluxe) were nicer than three 5* properties I have stayed in at Bangkok. The new building has it's own checkin desk, and the hotel has an attached sport complex and some godd restaurants. The hotel is prbably a 3*, but if you stay in new part more like 5*. Highly recommended and if you use a dscount website, eg:

can get grand courtyard for 3,000 baht or maybe less with other websites.

Grand Business Inn. Soi 11. 1200 per night. Give them a business card and tell them you want to open a corperate account. This hotel is very nice and about six months old. You might get breakfast included.

Just returned from my first stay at Nana. Had a suite in what looked to be a newer section. I found it to be outstanding in all respects - room, service, courtesy and a fair value for 2100 baht / night.
