newbie to Pattaya

I never been to thailand so I its a bit overwhelming of where to stay and what to do so any help would be great. I plan on staying for 3 weeks. I would like a place that is close to activities, that hopefully has a pool/work out area. I dont know how much this would cost or what is a rip off and what is a good deal.

 

I would like my room to be at least equal to a holiday inn, I stay alot in those due to my job. Also how much should I plan a day for meals, entertainment, exctra....

 

I plan on partying, I am in my 30's and never married so I would like to meet girls party, goto clubs dance. I would like to see some of the sights and do some out door sightings as well.

 

I been looking online for flight information and I dont see Pattaya listed as an arrival destination. Where do I fly too to get to there? How far is it a comunte from the airport.

 

Basicaly I am at a total loss and would appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

You are going to have to fly to Bangkok for starters and then get a taxi to Pattaya which is about 2 hours away depending on the traffic, taxi is about 1000-2000 baht one way.As for hotels you should check on the internet for details, a good site with good rates is

I have used these and have had no problems. As for eating and entertainment you could spend as much or as little as you want, some on this site say they spend 7000 baht a day,but you could get by easy on 1000 baht a day.When you book a hotel check that it is girl friendly as some of the more expensive hotels will charge you every time you bring back a different girl. hello there , i havent been on this site for a while , but i was reading my favorite site ( im not advertising but its great ) www.stickmanbangkok.com , and he said that flb was under new mangement so here i am checkin the site out again , well back to your question first of all you will fly into dongmanuang (bad spelling) airport bangkok , then go outside the building avoid every one who trys to get you to use there taxi's limosines mini buses all well over priced get outside theres a little kiosk stand in the que a minute or 2 tell the person you want a taxi to pattaya will be no more than 1500 baht make sure that includes all the toll roads quicker , you will be in pattaya in 1.5 hours , i would recommend the sandy spring hotel its very nice , right in the middle of everthing check out there website , for money it depends on where you do your hunting i.e beach road 500 all in , beer bars 200 baht bar fine 700-1000 baht for the lady is fine for all night , gogo bar normal dancer 500 baht bar fine 1000-1500 for lady , and for top show girl dancers 600 bar fine plus 1500-2000 for the lady herself , these price apart form bar fine can be negotiated especailly if you look like brad pit as for food eat on the street for 100 baht aday in a top resturant i.e lobsterpot waling street highly recommended for impressing tha ladys say 1500-2000 bAht , i also recomend the pig and whistle soi 7 i think and the queen vic english style pub on the notorious naughty sexy soi 6 great place to start an evening along that brilliant part of fun town the vics at the top end of the soi i.e secound road end , its a daunting place the first time you get into pattaya but just relax and let the fun just come and believe me it does some time so much that you nearly drown , but be warned thailand is the most addictive thing known to man , enjoy yourself and post your trip report here or on stickmans readers confessions , there some there that are great hopefully your's will also be that , take care and use a rubber !!!!!!!!!!!!

First: spend a few hours reading everything you can on this site then...

2) stay as long as you can

3) drop the ego, get a no name hotel

4) budget $200/day for this trip ( will drop alot when you return )

(200=room, food, girls, drinking, gifts)

5) try to hook up with a boardy for a walking/bahtbus tour/pub crawl

6) dont plan

7) dont keep a girl for more than 2 days

8) bring a sim card phone or buy one there, get all the #'s you can

9) dont plan

10) when you fall in love, kick her out and get another one

11) dont plan

12) file a trip report

Pattaya is safe. The place you picked is fine. A "boardy" is someone that posts on this site.

 

I suggest Areca Lodge or either Eastiny or Flipper property. All have what you are looking for. Everything you need is a 25 cent baht bus ride away OR CLOSER. I also enjoyed Residence Garden, but it is a bit away from the action.

 

Rodeoooo would be a fine guy to get a tour from. Otherwise, just go to the FLB bar and ask the manager on duty to suggest someone to show you the town.

 

It isn't rocket science and the worse thing that could probably happen is that you get too pissed and wind up with a ladyboy in your room.

 

General safety tips: 1. don't carry too much cash (10,000 baht is too much, others may say thb5000 is too much, though i often carry thb15,000) 2. Stay on the beaten track your first trip (Soi 6 to the north and walking st to the south, second road to the east and the beach to the west, stay off the beach at night) 3. primary points of interest are Soi 6, 7 & 8 (but soi 7 is several blocks from soi 6) soi 13 and walking street, if i spent my entire holiday in just one of these areas i could still have a great time. 4. do not get too pissed unless you are with good friends. 5. do not argue with a Thai, if things start to look bad, say "no problem" pay your tab and leave immediatly. 6. most hotel front desks have a little business card with the hotel's name and address on it written in Thai, keep this with you in case you get lost so a baht bus driver can get you back to your hotel.

 

Relax and have fun, it is impossible for a man that wants to get some pussy to not get some pussy in Pattaya.

Thanks for the info:) I will be taking a redeye out of seattle WA, and ariving in the afternoon. Would it be wise to take the hotel offer of pickup for 1500 baht or try to find a cab at kiosk? Also what is the weather like in i went in september vrs november? or july vrs august. I read the seasons but I like a first hand perspective from someone who was actually there. Thanks:)

Another question where is a good place thats not too expensive for some talioring, I have read its best to travel light and pack lots of underwear. And at night its good to wear slacks with button down shirt is this true? and if so I was wondering if it would be advised to just buy some clothing there so I dont have to pack it...

There are a lot of places to buy all manner of clothing. My choice is the Mike Shopping Mall, which has entrances off Second Road and Beach Road.

 

Also, I would suggest you book into the RG for the first few days of your trip and once you get a feel fot Pattaya move to the area of your choice.

I can go for 2-3 weeks any time Aug-Nov, I cant do december/Xmas due to the fact I went to mexico one year with some fraternity bro's and was gone for xmas and I never heard the end of it from my family esp my mother. So my thought was do 2-3 weeks in Aug-Nov if I like it go back for 1-2 weeks for new year 2007.

 

Now just to make sure I understand if I go in Augest weather is hot humid and rains alot (rain I am use to I live in seattle hot and humid I am not.)

Weather is not a concern other than it will be hot and humid for you so dress accordingly.

 

You have all the information you need. you can never be fully prepared for what you will experience, but the best part is that it just doesn't matter. if you like pussy you can't go wrong.

 

just go and do not overpay too much or fall in love with the first BG (tell her in the morning, after you leave something for her under her purse, that you are a butterfly and want to see some other BGs, but that you may come back to her bar later in the trip)
