Don Muang Arrivals area

Recommended Posts

I just came in through Don Muang (BKK airport) where I normally buy a carton of cigarettes before going through customs. I checked with the Duty Free shop where I usually buy smokes and they said they no longer sold cigarettes. I didn't check all the shops, however.

Has anyone found cigarettes for sale recently in the arrivals area?

i was there last september & looks like they have stopped selling cigarettes at arrivals, you can't even buy it at kingpower dutyfree store in world trade center!! there are couple of stalls that sell cigarettes b4 passport control!

ps. buy in bulk at ur nearest 711. not much difference in price from a carton.

I believe the law has changed and they are not allowed to show cigarettes, I went to a few supermarkets the last time I was there and all their cigges were not on show but they still sold them, although 7/11 still had them on show, so not sure how that works. Did not see any at the duty free shop on the way in to Thailand but they had loads on the way out. :D :D :D

I bought a carton of L&M reds duty free when I came through on the 2nd of November - from a small stall before immigration.

Yes, I was able to buy cigarettes on Nov 4 when I arrived, but they were not there on Dec 7 as far as I could tell.

when i went through in october i went to the 2 shops (by the baggage carousels) and the one shop has no ciggies and the other shop had only 1 brand! (i forgot which 1-but i hadnt heard of them anyway!) of course typical thailand! coming back i bought 5 cartons in the duty-free at thailand! my missus went over in june she brought a bit of food from thailand with her (into the uk) and they confiscated the lot! let her keep the ciggies (and my J.D.!) AND BOOZE THOUGH!

ha ha ha I stopped and I feel great too,,,,,just thought I would rub it in...I have noticed how some 7-elevens have then stowed away. Here in Thailand they seem to be serious about helping people either stop or not start...like stowing them out of sight and putting those nasty images on the outside. In California they treat smokers like shit and charge the shit out of them with taxes. The state of California collects big money from smokers they said it is to cover the extra medical cost incurred by smokers what a bunch of horse shit that is. I smoked for 30 years and they never paid any of my medical bills or any one I know for that matter. Did they start any stop smoking programs or subdidise nicotine gum with all that money, fuck no they are too busy figureing out how to collect more tax. I should get a big fat tax refund from then. With what I spent on tobacco tax I could buy a 4 million Baht house here in Thailand.....yep I added it up and adjusted for inflation too, I could have a nice swimming pool too.....

Sorry if this was a little off topic

I have smoked cigarettes for 55 years. During that time doctors have warned me of the dangers. All the doctors are now dead and my annual X-ray shows no significant damage to my lungs. Maybe I have the right genes? (No, no Levi's)

On a recent visit to PIH a young over keen doctor launched into a lecture and I promptly told him to button up. I pointed out that to get to the hospital I had driven 8 kilometres down Sukhumvit Road and then along 2nd Road. THAT was dangerous! We all find our own way to the grave - and hell.

On the other hand I try to discourage people from taking up this obnoxious habit.

Duty Free before Passport control....Yeah you can walk there by going to the transit section for connection passengers,,However..You need a outbound boarding pass for that day to purchase......I didn't notice any cancer sticks in duty free in the baggage area at Don Muangs the last week....Good! I suppose if you need some cancer or want to give some cancer to people that you could purchase them in the duty free on the out bound in you county or in the duty free if you connect....FYI the cost of ciggies in SFO/HNL Duty free is a little more that the ciggies in NRT. If it is important the NRT cancer sticks are mostly from european labels....Even the US Brand Names.....BTW, I only know this because I spent 6 hour in NRT 18 times in 2005! No ciggies used or given....!
