Pattaya travel advise needed by writer

Hi All,

 

Just wondering if anyone can assist me in researching my article about Pattaya for a Mens Magazine in the UK (Not top shelf, I ain't that lucky)

 

The assignments are based around the Pattaya's nightlife ect, so I am looking for assistance where to go to visit when i arrive and what to do.

 

I have never been to Pattaya and looking forward to visiting in April 06, if anyone has any ideas or any helpful advise, please let me know...

I would suggest you start reading. There is more than enough material in the forum for a series of articles. Member's Bar and Newbies' Corner would probably be the best area to concentrate on.

Um....just what sort of article do you intend to write? About the "naughty" nightlife? Or about the wonderful sightseeing that can be experienced in Thailand?

 

Thailand is a beautiful country full of beautiful people. If your intent is to promote the positive...there are many people who will help you. However, if you are one of those narrow-minded media types who hope to sell a product by pointing out negatives.....I hope you go away!

 

You want to learn about Thailand? You want to learn about Pattaya nightlife for a men's magazine? Then come here and do your research on the ground. Hopefully with an open mind.

No need to worry about so called "negative press" I have no intention to write offensive or derogatory remarks or comments. This style of exploitative journalism only ends up biting you back, on the ass later.

 

Your correct Little Roy, regarding getting out to Pattaya and doing research on the ground, but with that many bars and Go Go Bars, I wouldn't know where to start and finish. Thats the main reason I requested so called pointers. In April I will have the pleasure, or pleasures of visiting Thailand and Pattaya.

PS. I'm the one who catches most of my grammer and spelling mistakes a few hours after I hit "save post." I know the problem is due to a bunch of factors - turning 30 didn't help, I don't get enough sleep and far to much beer and sex. A high percentage of my payments are spent on Proof readers, or poof readers as I've described previously.

Your posting in the "Open Forum" where the moderators don't want any discussion about bars or bargirls. Apply to be a member and then you'll have access to the members forum and most of your questions will be answered by reading prior posts in the member and trip report area. If you still need more info then post your question in that area and you should receive plenty of help.

You will stumble over a lot of self-righteousness here concerning the kind of publicity Pattaya normally gets in the UK. Whether it is justified or not doesn't seem to matter to most folks. Thais are obsessed with protecting Thailand's image and a lot of foreigners here seem willing to join in the process quite enthusiastically. Come, hang out, and write what you see. A lot of people won't like it, but fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.
