I have booked at the Acera but now they tell me, deluxe room only, no Exutive suite. Is there hope for me. I want a quality room, guest friendly, in the action for $100 or less per night. The Vault? Anywhere? Tell me theres hope.

Csoday.

I would grab the deluxe room at Areca for sure.

The Executive room is bigger{And overated in my mind},but the deluxe is more than adequate, with safe, balcony, bath, etc.

The main thing about a hotel anywhere in the world,is its service and facilaties,

Areca passes with flying colours in both.

The LK Metro have nice rooms, but the pool is tiny, and VERY noisey, and very impersonal,

Areca has TWO pools,a gym,TWO saunas, grerat breakfast, and the staff are brilliant.

Dont exclude Areca, just because of the lack of an executive room,i would never stay anywhere else.

csoday,

Areca is 2star maybe 2.5 lk metro 2 star Marriott a solid 3 star. the new shearaton should be a 3 star maybe a 3.5. I have never seen the cliff hotels but they shold be a 3-4 star they have several hotels at the same property. I think the cliff is not gf they may charge a joiner fee. others are gf. there are not any 5 stars in pattaya that I know of. you would have to stay in bangkok at oriental, shang etc fro 5 star. 2guns 2guns

I have stayed at the Marriott 6 or so times (before i got smart)

great hotel, guest friendly personal knowledge up untill Jan 05

Dont know about now

Stayed at the Dusit..ONE time, never again, not guest friendly and do not like the property

A thought:

The girls generally think you a Buffalo for paying so much

Suggestion:

Acacia, Sunshine Vista, Bella Villa prima, Sandy Springs

I found that my ego got in the way and i had to spend money to please myself and the girls. Not the case

Point in Case:

My last trip of 19 days, Dec-Jan 06, i was on a real budget, as i was waiting to get paid, which did not happend untill Febuary..

Stayed at Sunshine Vista, ate in the street mostly, baht bus, no bell ringing

no big presents for the girls or me, and had probably my best time ever

Wheeels up in 29 days

I would say that the Sheraton is a borderline 5--at least a 4 to be sure. Part of it is room quality, part of it is service, and part of it is the number of staff. It was hard to walk ten feet without someone from the staff greeting me and asking if everything was okay.

stinger,

I haven't stayed at sheraton so I was guessing based on the material they show on the website. Thanks for posting the info. I have not seen many posts on it since it just opened a few months ago.

But as a comparison I would not consider either the sheraton grande BKK or westing grande BKKor JW Marriott 5 BKK 5 star hotels althought they are certainly solid 4 star hotels. I have stayed at all three and they are certainly better than the mariott in pattaya but the difference doesn't always seem to be worth the money to me. I get the sheraton westin and JW on priceline for about $80 plus fees. I have stayed there for a couple of years so the prices on priceline may have gone up.

I don't stay at the better hotels for the girls. I slipped a disc in my back a couple of years ago and having a good bed with good pillows was import to me. I am feeling better now so a nice hotel with under 1500 baht is my normal game plan. :chogdee2 :D

Gotcha.

I've stayed at the Westin Grande in Bangkok too. The Sheraton Pattaya is definitely better by a significant degree.

Most of those beds in Pattaya are pretty hard, hey? I hope you find something that agrees with your back.
