Always worth upgrading to Elite (Evergreen Deluxe as was) with seats an extra 5" pitch.

Be aware that if travelling on the 777 in economy, that three of the four aisle seats now have rather large electronic boxes under the seat in front severly restricting leg room.

From west coast, I will always take Evergreen Deluxe unless it is full. Economy for a 13 hour flight is a long, uncomfortable journey. I paid $1000 USD with all fees for my next flight. Less than $200 more than economy. It just makes sense.

Wheels up in 12 days. :D

I always fly China Airlines. Last time Eva’s price was so low that I couldn’t resist. But Eva not even comes near China in terms of service, staff professionalism, extras and attitude. I found Eva’s cabin crew to be indifferent, incompetent, arrogant, careless and unfriendly.

The electronic boxes are indeed a pain in the a... China has on several flights also individual entertainment systems, but doesn’t have the ridiculous boxes under the seats.

In the futur I will avoid Eva (Evergreen class or otherwise) under all circumstances.

I just flew Evergreen Deluxe return from Vancouver- BKK, and it was great. A good value, and very comfortable up there in the nose of the 747. I'm gonna have a hard time going back to economy after this experience.

Evergreen Deluxe and Elite has absolutely ruined me for flying economy. I recently took a trip to Costa Rica from California which, while only a 6 hour flight was intolerable in cattle class. Used to be able to do it just fine but now that I'm spoiled, well, shucks.

Afraid I wouldn't even consider flying economy for a flight that long. I have over 70,000 miles on American Airlines which would get me an economy from LAX to BKK on Cathy Pacific (a fine airline) but I am waiting until I have 110,000 and can get the business class!

Of course, one must consider that I'm an old fart and once over 60, the extra comfort really means a lot.

Evergreen Deluxe or Elite - no question about it :allright

BTW - IMHO the seats are bigger and better on Evergreen Deluxe and the entertainment (interactive on demand) is better on Elite. On Evergreen Deluxe you get your own screen and a choice of 4-5 shows at any one time to pick from while on Elite you get your own screen and you can start and stop any available show/movie at anytime

I have a friend that flew Eva and liked it. I have never flown Eva, but usually see cheap flights with good flight times compared to NW. I did fly China once when nothing available in NW was anywhere near the price of China. I really liked the flight, comfortable(for cattle class), good food and good service. The one killer is no preflight seat choice, only 1st come 1st serve, not good, not good. Probably a deal killer for me.

I have only flown on Evergreen deluxe. If you are on a tight budget but want more space and somewhat personal service over cattle class, then this is the best way to go.

As for seat assignment online, they only block certain seats for you to choose from. The better seats are left to the airline. I could have booked the seats online buy waited for the day I was leaving and came in to airport early for best seat selection. The airline had better seat selection than what was available online.

Same Same experience as dotcom_OD.

Book a seat on the website when you order your tickets then if you are not happy with the seats get to the airport a little early and you will have a good chance of getting better seats - for all legs of your trip in one shot . :clap2

I wasn't able to book my seats on line, but when i got to SFO at the counter the girl at the counter hooked me up with an exit row aisle seat to Taipei. I couldn't have had more space sitting at home!! On the way back I could only get that seat on the BKK to Taipei.

I booked my next trip in November using the EVA website - very easy, good price and exactly the same flights as my last trip. You can't book seats until 90 days before your flight, though, so I will return to the site to try that when the time is right.

I usually fly EVA from Seattle. The web site is pretty good.. but sometimes hit or miss on getting the best price. If you vary the travel by one day the price can raise or fall by 200 or more.

I have always flown Deluxe... very nice. The service seems fine to me. One of the best features.. it gets in just before Noon and leaves noon to 3 PM. NWA gets in just before Midnight and leaves very early in the morning. For that reason alone I prefer EVA. Also, EVA seems to have the shortest total flight time to BBK. China Air has a longer delay when you switch planes.

I usually check Travolocity and the other sites first.. then go to EVA site to see what I can find.
