Hey Guys. Great site and lots of good people and info. Just wondering what the best price is you have paid for t-shirts around there. I remember they would always start off with some crazy price before bartering with them but still not sure if I got a good deal or not. Also any guide line prices for other goods including dvd/ps2 games, fake stuff etc. Thanks in advance!

T-shirts ? it depends upon whether you want copies of designer stuff or just regular run of the mill t-shirts. Start around Bt100 for the bog standard stuff, cheaper if you buy more than one. Designer copies a bit more. Worry more about the quality and pay for better quality. As an idea, top quality copy football shirts are around Bt350/400. you can get cheaper but not with the same quality.

DVDs ? Depends upon how many you buy. If you get 10, or more, you should be able to pick them up for Bt100 each, maybe even 5 for Bt500. They will probably start you off at Bt150/200.

always a better price if you purchase a quantity. 5 for 100 Baht or 6 for 100 Baht. Sometime you can get your best deal when the shop opens - good luck to sell to the first customer and they will use your moeny to bless the rest of their wares.

DVDs about 100 Baht - a little less if you buy quantiy. 2 weeks ago I bought 25 DVDs and got them for 90 Baht apiece.

Best thing is the first couple of days in Pattaya - just get prices - don't buy. Get a feel for what the starting price and the "walk away" price is. Then when you have an idea of what the brotherhood is selling things for, go in and bargain hard.

hi all,I am a great bargainer (its my Scottish Heritage)I find that the usual(good bargainers) price for DVDs is 100 baht each and you get a free one if you buy 10 ,so 11 for 1000baht and if you buy more you will get (or should ask for) a greater discount,I got 33 for 2800 baht in the tuesday - friday market.but I would never pay more than 100 baht as there will allways be another salesman along in a minute,in the mikes mall I bought a suitcase on wheels that was advertised at 1800 baht but came down to 1400 when asked if that was her best price and all the way down to 1200 when i said I was only looking only to be asked what I wanted to pay when I was still not enticed into buying,I said 1000 and was told that was not enough she wanted 1150,we settled on 1100 all in the space of 30 seconds,so no matter what the signs say there is allways room to manouver.

I noticed that you had shopped in BKK before...did you try Bobae tower??If you want a real bargain you have to go about 0400am ( Like the people who resale in Pratunam and Pattaya) but regular bargain hunters wait for the tower to open around 0900..

In Jan/Feb 2006, dvds in Patong were 80 baht and 100 baht in Pantip Plaza (BKK). However when I ended my tour in Pattaya, most sellers wanted 150 baht for each one even for bulk buying, and they would not budge. I did manage to get some for 100 (5 for 500).

Whereabouts did you get the best deals? I'll be stocking up again on my next trip.

I get my DVDs across the street from Mikes Department store (NOT Mikes shopping mall) - this place is closer to South Road - all kinds of music, Thai movies and US DVDs. 100 baht and a little cheaper if you buy in quantity. I order em one afternoon and pick em up the next.
