First time in Thailand/Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I can't belive I am doing this... My first ever holiday (a real holiday without visiting family), first ever overseas holiday and first time to Thailand/Pattaya.

At the moment I have booked the flights and hotels. Staying in Bangkok for 3 nights before traveling down to Pattaya, arriving in Nov 10th.

But thats all I have planned for at the moment, as I have NO idea what the nightlife will be like. Sure I have read the forums, but trying to plan what I am going to do is almost impossible.

But at the moment I am wondering about a couple of things. I am working out what the best way to travel down to Pattaya. Taxi, Bus, I even read about a couple of gogo places offering transport with a girl or two, Classroom I think dose it (I have no idea what limits with the girls are).

Also on my first night in Pattaya, just untill I get the lay of the land, any good ideas on places to visit first. I will have 10 days there, time to see most of Pattaya, but the first time I don't want to wonder around not knowing where to go first.

But basicily this holiday trip will (hopefully) involve :bow :rotflmao :D :chogdee :banana anything other then

I suggest you ask the hotel in Pattaya to send a limo to pick you up from the hotel in BKK - price between 1000-1200 baht I guess + tollroads (I pay 1200 baht from Don Muang to Pattaya + 145 baht for tollroads).

If you take a taxi in Bangkok you must be careful to get a metered taxi not those hanging around the hotels, they will charge you the double (around 2000 baht). You must also be prepared to guide the taxi driver to your hotel. Forget the bus alternative if you have luggage, also you would have problem with negotiating with a bahtbus about the trip to your hotel.

First night try to find some experienced guys who can introduce to the nightlife. If you don't have any contacts in Pattaya go to Walking street and FLB-bar.

Welcome to Pattaya btw.

Hi

Re. transport to pattaya for your first visit my advice would be to use a taxi rather than bus, unless you really are on a tight budget.

There are at least a couple of decent services on one of the forum sections here,Ride Sharing,Arranging transport. Your Bangkok hotel would also be able to arrange your transport.

Another idea for you would be to apply(email) to become a member of the full forum here as you will find a lot more info to help you.

All the Best. 2guns

Hire a car through this forum or your hotel.

Do not get talked into sharing a 12-passenger van unless you like spending the entire day riding around Bangkok picking up fellow passengers.

Do not take the bus until you get a feel for things.

should cost 1200 - 1500 and you may have to pay the tolls - 145 baht - if asked - take the tollway

ride will take 2 - 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic and time of day

I used Mr Toom and my driver was there at the airport with a comfortable ride and good service

Also, would not recommend the go-go limo - you will have plenty of time for fun once you get to Pattaya

You are in trouble ;-)

At the moment I have booked the flights and hotels. Staying in Bangkok for 3 nights before traveling down to Pattaya, arriving in Nov 10th.

What hotels are you staying in, did you book it in a package holiday, if so they probably are not guest friendly

But thats all I have planned for at the moment, as I have NO idea what the nightlife will be like. Sure I have read the forums, but trying to plan what I am going to do is almost impossible.

It's pointless planning too far ahead, you will not stick to your plans, just go with the flow

But at the moment I am wondering about a couple of things. I am working out what the best way to travel down to Pattaya. Taxi, Bus, I even read about a couple of gogo places offering transport with a girl or two, Classroom I think dose it (I have no idea what limits with the girls are).

I advise booking mr Toom. He charges 1,200 from Airport (old airport, it will be a new airport in Nov) to Pattaya including Tolls. BKK should be similar price. You'll find his details on the site

Also on my first night in Pattaya, just untill I get the lay of the land, any good ideas on places to visit first. I will have 10 days there, time to see most of Pattaya, but the first time I don't want to wonder around not knowing where to go first.

Go into Bars which are owned by Board members. FLB in Walking street, Cherry Bar in Soi 8 amongst many others, read the site and you will find many

But basicily this holiday trip will (hopefully) involve anything other then (I can do that anytime hehehe) as it has been 3 years since the last time I have had that type of fun.

You have never had a holiday like the one you are going to have, have fun

Welcome to the board Nakaleen 1luv Seems the other BMs have just about covered everthing already. :clap2

As they said become a full board member and there is much more info readily available to you. Book transport through Mr Toom or Lost in Space, both are on this board and both are reliable. :bow

You will find board members at Cherry Bar, FLB, Catz, Lennie's and most likely at Secrets as well. Most are more than happy to meet and share a few drinks as well as answer any questions you may have. :clap1

Enjoy your trip. :clap1

When you enter those places just tell the manager that you are a board member and would like to hook up to the gang...they will introduce you. Else just go with the flow, and you will be fine. They are actually rather nice people as i found out...

Sorry lads...to many G&Tæs and getting sentimental. 3 weeks to wheels up :clap2

First off welcome to the board you'll find this and other boards a great resource of information. Also congratulations on what will hopefully be a memorable holiday.

At the moment I have booked the flights and hotels. Staying in Bangkok for 3 nights before traveling down to Pattaya, arriving in Nov 10th.

A question was asked previously if you've booked your accommodation in Bangkok was booked by you or as part of a package? You'll most of these package hotels aren't guest friendly, some will ask you to pay an additional charge (joiner fee). Remember that unless these hotels are in the Sukhimvit area then you'll be away from most of the nightlife scene.

But thats all I have planned for at the moment, as I have NO idea what the nightlife will be like. Sure I have read the forums, but trying to plan what I am going to do is almost impossible.

If you are perturbed about Pattaya you shouldn't be going to Bangkok which is much larger place and the attractions further apart. Also for sheer volume and quality Pattaya nightlife wins hands down.

But at the moment I am wondering about a couple of things. I am working out what the best way to travel down to Pattaya. Taxi, Bus, I even read about a couple of gogo places offering transport with a girl or two, Classroom I think dose it (I have no idea what limits with the girls are).

By far the best way to get to Pattaya is by taxi, Mr Toom was mentioned in another post and I would agree he provides an exceptional airport pickup.

At 1200B all tolls are paid and all you need to give if you so choose is a tip.

As attractive as the option of being met by a minivan with a couple of attractive ladies. Unless you really know the girls and their personality it's more than possible you'll be wasting you time and money on a couple women who aren't really your type.

Most charge 12,000B for the service, with that kind of money once you're in Pattaya you can barfine 6 women and have them all night.

Remember you'll be arriving at the new airport which means your travel time to Pattaya will only be about 80 - 90min.

Also on my first night in Pattaya, just untill I get the lay of the land, any good ideas on places to visit first. I will have 10 days there, time to see most of Pattaya, but the first time I don't want to wonder around not knowing where to go first.

On your first night I strongly recommend the first bar to visit is FLB. There is usually quite a few board members who will be able to give you a lot of advice. There's also quite a few board members also own bars (me included), Martin can direct you to them, having said that I highly recommend that FLB is your stepping off point.

But basicily this holiday trip will (hopefully) involve :D :clap2 :clap1 1luv :bow anything other then :clap1 (I can do that anytime hehehe) as it has been 3 years since the last time I have had that type of fun.

Good luck on your trip you are going to have a great time.

Cheers, Alf

I am staying in Manhattan in Bangkok 3 days and then to Sawasdee Sea View in Pattayafor 10 (another 3 back in Bangkok before leaving). hehehe I cant belive a trip in a limo could be so cheap?!?

If you take a taxi in Bangkok you must be careful to get a metered taxi not those hanging around the hotels, they will charge you the double (around 2000 baht). Yes, I have read about the hassle to get a bus or a Taxi (my hotel reservation printouts has the hotel's name in Thai, I can't tell if it only has the name or the address too, I can't read it hehehe) luggage wise I will only have one small-medium sized suitcase

First night try to find some experienced guys who can introduce to the nightlife. If you don't have any contacts in Pattaya go to Walking street and FLB-bar.

I see the word FLB popping up a lot around here, it looks like a great place. The videos on their video page alone has my mouth hitting the floor hehehe

I wonder if Manhattan or seaview offer such a service. Have to ask first thing when I get there. I have applied for full membership. haven't head back yet but then again that was 10 hours ago hehehe.

Hire a car through this forum or your hotel.

Hehehe maybe not this trip as it will be my first time in another country, I don't think I would brave driving myself. I have heard horror stories about the traffic there. :beer

ride will take 2 - 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic and time of day

I hope there is something to look at ont he trip, scenery etc.. I'll be armed with a digital camera so I will be taking pictures everywhere hehehe

I used Mr Toom and my driver was there at the airport with a comfortable ride and good service

Also, would not recommend the go-go limo - you will have plenty of time for fun once you get to Pattaya

lar

A couple people now have says to try Mr Toom, I must find out his info, not right now though as I need some sleep before my shift (I work nights)

Fuck me you might need a wheelbarrow to carry your balls through customs then!!!!

Hahahaha tell me about it, I am counting the min till the trip

What hotels are you staying in, did you book it in a package holiday, if so they probably are not guest friendly

I made sure the hotels are girl friendly, well I hope they are (I used another forum to check, as I only found this forum 2 days ago (and this one seems a better one too, centered on Pattaya))

It's pointless planning too far ahead, you will not stick to your plans, just go with the flow

Yep thats why I am really only planning hotels, and transport. Well that and maybe the first afternoon/night in Pattaya. Basicly once I walk out the doors of theSea View doors onto the street, it would be good to know a basic direction to walk first hehehe.

Go into Bars which are owned by Board members. FLB in Walking street, Cherry Bar in Soi 8 amongst many others, read the site and you will find many

FLB sounds like a good starting point, I have to find out where all these places are, I didn't know bar owners hanged out here untill now. Must make a note to visit their bars 1luv It would be good to go to places that I might bump to people I meet here

You have never had a holiday like the one you are going to have, have fun

The only other holidays I had was to visit family... *boring* I am planning to maxumise the amount of fun I can cram into this trip

On your first night I strongly recommend the first bar to visit is FLB. There is usually quite a few board members who will be able to give you a lot of advice. There's also quite a few board members also own bars (me included), Martin can direct you to them, having said that I highly recommend that FLB is your stepping off point.

Well I have printed a few maps pf Pattaya and viewed in on Goggle Earth, just to work out what s in walking distance and what isent. But my first afternoon/night I will walk over to FLB (and enjoing the sights on the way)

Well I am off to bed. But I will be around for a while (two months) I'll try not to bug people with too much questions hehehhe.

And thanks for all the replies :D

Edit: Hmmm I wonder why the quotes didn't work

You have more than a wealth of info, all good stuff I may add, FLB has been a place I have visited many times, (great place, I know the owner) this is my first few days on this board, if you are having trouble I should be in town durring your stay except for a few days down south I plan to travel, give me a shout if you are in trouble, this town is very easy to get learn the "lay" , start at walking street and go to flb, the rest should be a piece of ....... a ,,,,,,,,,,,cake??

if you have not arranged with your hotel for pick up at the airport jump in a meter taxi to your hotel it should cost around 500 to 600 baht then when leaving your bangkok hotel ask them to get you a taxi to take you to pattaya and ask them what the price is. it should be around 1,500 with all highway toll,s included when you get to pattaya head for soi 8 cherry bar or walking street flb bar which is on your right hand side 2 minutes walk. when you enter this bar you will see a white board with names on it which means these board members are in the bar and you can ask to chat with one for any info about pattaya etc. but remember always go with your gut feeling and don,t get to attached to any girl,s untill you feel safe and relaxed also if you take a girl from a bar you are more safe than picking up one from the street cause if any thing happens you can always go back to the bar and speak to the boss but you can,t if you pick someone from the street .anyway be happy and safe and enjoy your time in thailand, one last thing remember thai,s will do most things just to make a living so the people you see and spend time with are trying to feed familys etc, the rule,s of thai are never raise your voice and argue with them, learn to speak some thai if you can like sawadee khrup which means hello and me-ow kap which means no thank you . you can check out the thai learner page which will guide you best of luck.

First, welcome to the board, to Thailand, and to Pattaya. Trust me: after this, your life will never be the same! :hairout

A few random bits of advice . . . .

Don't fall in love with a bar girl.

Don't make plans; they become useless pretty quickly. If you do make plans, resign yourself to throwing them out the window. Probably within the hour.

Don't fall in love with a bar girl.

Learn a few basic -- but important -- Thai phrases (hello, thank you, etc.), as well as some of the basics of Thai etiquette so as to avoid inadvertent insults or taboos. The Thai value good manners and polite behavior, so making an effort to respect that goes a long way.

Don't fall in love with a bar girl.

As others have suggested, when you get to Pattaya go find any board members who are in town, and FLB will be the best place to start. The veterans are always willing to take someone under their wings, and can save you a lot of time & trouble getting oriented to what's going on.

Don't fall in love with a bar girl.

Drink lots of fluids of the non-alcoholic variety; Gatorade is available at the Family Marts and 7-11's. The heat and humidity can be pretty brutal to the uninitiated.

Don't fall in love with a bar girl.

Take advantage of all the area has to offer, not just the nightlife. Visit the temples, feel the spirituality of the country, take in such things as the Thai Cultural Show at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens, see the Big Buddha mountain as it's usually called.

And oh, yeah, I almost forgot: Don't fall in love with a bar girl. :clueless

You still have plenty of time and I suggest you join all the message boards, read as many posts as possibe, visit the websites of the bars and generally find out as much as you can. Then by the time you arrive, you wont spend 3 days finding out where you are.

Research is the key for a fun time in LOS as everything is there, its just a case of going in the right direction.

Good luck

Nakaleen,

Don't do it. If you come to Thailand and indulge in nightnife activities, you will be corrupted for rest of you life. It happened to me and it WILL hapen to YOU. That was 13 years ago and it changed me forever.

It if wasn't for the bar girls, I would have been married back home in the States with a wife, 2 kids, a dog and house payments. <grin

Now, I'm stuck in this life of foolishness and irresponsibilities and forced to go to Pattaya :cry2
