NEVER NEVER NEVER give any bath to a child beggar, its much better to buy food or fruit and give them.

They are often kidnapped or sold from the villages up north and are very badly treaten buy the criminals that forces them to beg. Some cases includes amputation and blindening small children so thei easy can bring in money. Please juse your brain before handing out money to small children sitting in by the pavement.Ive spent a long time in Thailand and have heard a lot of facts from my collegues working here.

Thailand is a wonderful country but if you flip the coin you will see your worst nightmare in how some of the Thais treat their children and fellow man. If you are poor in Thailand you have less value and can be treated with no respect. In Thailand everything is for sale so juse your brain and you heart before buing.

Have a nice stay in "The land of smiles"

I am 90% sure a woman tried to offer her child to me, he/she must have been about 3/4 years old. I was absolutely furious, I didnt know what to do.... Initially i was angry, then i thought violence wont help, then i thought I'd call the police. Then i sensibly decided to stay away from it entirely. What should we do in this situation. I expressed my anger to a good educated thai friend of mine and she explained, that the offender is probably being forced into doing it to save face. I said I'd rather die than sell a child for rape purposes for a living.. she just said Thailand not the same...

What can we do?

Maikwai,

As said above support Pattaya Orphanage,go for a visit ,look around and make a generous donation oh and dont forget to take some tissues.

Cant do it mate, it'll be on my mind and get me down. But i willl and can make a blind donation. I have donated online to a thai charity since being home. I did research also. I know there are alot of greddy thais owning charities. So farang charity is usually best.

I was sitting having a conversation with an ex-pat who is also a business owner here in Pattaya. He and his wife went back to her village for a visit and decided to sponsor a large dinner and entertainment for the temple and all the monks. He said a fantastic time was had by all.

He got back home and they had already mailed him a letter which he couldn't wait to open. He opened it and inside was not a single thanks. They wanted to know if next time he could just donate money instead of sponosring a dinner party. Just unbelievabel!

I forgot to add another side note....

As I sit on Soi 8 many nights I notice the same babies get thrown from adult to adult so they can walk in and out of bars begging with a child on their hips. I was told the beggars pay a small fee to the "real parents" for the use of the baby....if you give money, know that you are supporting that habit.

Yes I cant stand that, you'll see the real mother checking on the baby every now and again. I used to go mental at these women, every soi you go to they jab you in the ribs and the babies must get burnt by cigarettes how close they get, i guess this is the least of there worries. I will be donating to Jesters asap.

And i have explained to quite a few bar girls of what is going on- it seems most of them dont know and now at least some do.
