You run a good joint and I like it.

The only time I've been on stage is when I've been invited by the singer.

Your customers are RIGHT the sound is to loud and balanced to far into the treble range. It's shrill. :beer You need to turn it down.

Dealing with city council, why don't you guys start a farang business association to deal with them. Politicians listen to groups. Especially ones that make campaign contributions.

The Blues Machine now and has for a while got a nice level that they play at, It sometimes gets pumped up a bit more as the club gets fuller, Any quieter is pointless as its a live music bar, not a lounge bar. :D

Lam on the other hand is difficult as they turn up their stage amps and fuck the whole sound system up, we can only control the PA, we can't really get on stage and turn down their instruments.

On Sunday Lams bass player was fired so hopefully tonight I can try to set different levels as for the last few months the bass players was incredibly loud BUT musicians being musicians and 62 year old rock guitarists don't always listen to what I want. 1luv (they do when I'm holding cash though

As for the water/ soi thing. they don't give a toss and neither unfortunatley do the other Thai bar owners down the soi. :clap2 :D

Bars that continuously check your drink, by picking up your bottle and shaking it to see how much is left in it or peering down into it. This gets annoying especially when 1 girl brings you a drink and 10 seconds later a different girl is over checking how much is left. I am perfectly capabale of checking to see how much drink I have and then deciding whether I want to order again or not.

This is one that really bugs me , especially if your drinking a bottle & they pull it out of the sleeve . I find it insulting & an invasion of my space . I know if a bartender did than in Ireland they would likely end up on their backs behind the bar - you just don't touch anybodys drink without asking first . Why don't they just point & ask 'You finish ?' like everywhere else in the world . The girls at Cherry Bar know I don't like this & leave me alone now .

Another pet hate is the toilet attendants / masseuses once only seen in Xcyte but now seem to be common in a lot of the go-gos & the Blues Factory . I just go for a pee , wash my hands & leave . If I wanted a massage I'd go to a massage place where they know what they are doing . If you don't get a massage they still expect a tip for handing you a cloth to dry your hands that's probably been used several times already & is covered in other guys bugs . Why cant they just charge 5 baht for the toilet like the beer bars & provide soap and paper towels you are perfectly able of using yourself .

The Blues Factory guy has been there for over 3 years now and he works on tips, he doesn't get a salary, that doesn't mean that you have to tip him because you don't!, He also should not be attempting to massage people and by the comments I get I don't believe he does.

He does a great job keeping the toilets clean as well as taking care of the constant problems I have with the Male toilets, if he wasn't in there they would be disgusting as the tossers in the Arab bars behind have smashed all my water feeds to the urinals :ang2 then they decided to brick the roof up so we can't access it and the council are to imcompetent to supply us with water so that guy has to hand clean the toilets after someone has visited, this along with the nightly puke I'd say he does a good job.

I'm sorry to say that he won't be going anywhere for a while.

The half dozen trips I made to the bathroom in The Blues Factory the caretaker did not make any attempt to molest me and in fact did not speak to me. He was making up trays of wash clothes for customers. The bathrooms were clean and well kept so I really didn't have a problem with the 10b "tip". From what you describe he probably deserves more.

Your a hard hearted businessman. The guy does all that work and you dont pay him :D I wont be applying for his job if he leaves.

Seriously though, its the only thing I dont like about the blues factory. Toilet attendants make me feel uncomfortable. Although I understand that he stays, I wouldnt want him to lose his job.

:D Do you tip him? :D

I don't actually, in the early days I used to give him 100bht a night but not anymore.

I don't really know the reason why I stopped tipping him although I know he does OK, I suppose I stopped whilst occasionally telling him not to do this and do that and make him treat customer in the way that I want, he was hired by my Manager and the deal was no salary.

I normally bung him every now and then, I gave him 5000bht for the new year and on parties etc I always look after his wife and 3 kids and I know that alot of customers, friends etc do look after him.

He has 3 jobs including the blues factory.

:clap2

Why are you quoting a post made by Bullfrog way back in October 2006 from another thread?

Wierd :clap2

Well it has been edited out...Must of been one of my drunken wanker mails!!

Anyway, I hate it when you agree with the owner or Bar Manager to watch a certain footie match on the TV...Sit there spending money for a couple of hours building up to the BIG GAME when his mate comes in and persuades him to change it so you are left wandering the streets at kick off trying to find a bar with it on.

This happened to me one afternoon in Cosy Bar Soi 2 / Soi 3 years ago when I wanted to watch Thailand in the Tiger Cup...BTW good on FLB to have the final on in Dec!!!!

Bullfrog,

I would have pitched a major bitch if I had talked to the owner about hanging out till a certain game came on and at the last minute he changed the channel because his pal came in and asked him to. :clap2

Come to think of it your current toilet attendant doesn't do the massage routine but one of the previous ones did . He has a shitty job (pun intended) & I'll have to remember to tip him . Still , at least it's a male attendant . There's nothing more off-putting than a female toilet attendant being around while you're having a piss .

The Climax Bar had a couple of the massage attendants in the toilets but they've stopped that now & charge a 5 baht fee for using the toilet . Guess they listened to their customers .

Dave

As I wrenched myself away from the Kylie Minogue video in the Blues Factory last night to visit the john I found the squirty soap was empty. The man directed to the well rounded lump of Imperial Leather. Just thought you might want to know.

He's the only ever attendant thats worked in The Blues Factory since i've owned my part of it (5years), unless the old service were trying to massage you? :banghead

I'll check whether the Rentokill/ Initial delivery has come or whether the cleaner (or him) have bothered to look in the store room for a new one. :gulp

OK, lets go now ~!

Draft beer ? seemed to come in really around 2003 when the loonies were selling tequila in some of the go-gos for Bt10/20 (really yes !). Damned if you have it and get cheap charlies and damned if you have it and charge a high price. Can't complain as a boss though about people fingering the girls after buying only a draft - easy answer, stop selling it. Up to the girl what she allows the customer to do and for what remuneration me thinks.

Russians - the most problems with this lot. Most have fuck all money and are as ignorant as hell. Only word they "understand" is GULAG ! Thailand has to stop subsidising planes in for this lot.

Arabs - what more can be said ? Whilst exceptions are there, most want to paw the women, pay little or fuck all for them and then have questionable places to stay (many to a room is one !). Better they went somewhere else. Unclean as well.

People who complain that they can get it cheaper in Soi whatever or 7/11. OK, go fuck off to Soi whatever or 7/11.

People who overly fiddle with bills. Now I've no problem with someone checking what they have got on their bill and each time they re-order but taking them out, trying to eat them or just perhaps trying to slip one out really fucks me off. Catch one and its all apologies - usually doesn't need the BiB.

Customer who don't have enough money. How the fuck can you do this really ? Mega pissed and you've lost your last Bt100 I can understand but not going into a place and running up a Bt2000 bill with no possible means of paying it. Takes time and effort to sort out and my staff don't need it.

Coming into the bar and asking to pay in currency other than Baht. What fucking country do you think you are in ? Can you play with Iraqi Dinar in Vietnam ? No you cannot so get some Thai baht. Worst offenders are the fucking Russians who come in with 1996 series USD100 bills which look like they were printed yesterday (probably were) and want you to give them good money for what is almost certainly funny money. Wankers. I'll change the odd small denomination USD/GBP/EUR etc. but not for more than the bill.

Guys who think it is ok to come into the bar with drinks bought elsewhere and sit down. Sorry mate, buy something here or off you go. If you cannot understand that they you really are simple and should not be let out alone.

People who think it is funny to deliberately break glasses and then get the hump when asked to pay for them. Breakages happen all the time but I had one arsehole who took great amusement in smashing tequila glasses. Tosser.

Probably loads more that will come to mind as soon as I hit "Add Reply".

I prefer fresh draft to bottle and don't mind paying a 'fair' price for it. What do I think is a 'fair' price for a pint? I'd go for 100 baht even tho I can get a pint in my local for the equivalent of 60 baht.

How do bar owners deal with a new customer who runs up a 2K bar bill? Couple of years ago, I left my wallet back in my room and the owner of the old Alamo Bar on soi 8 let me run a tab that day. I told him up front and he did know me. :D

I have on the rare occasion brought a beer into a bar and finished it but I do buy a few more in the bar and let's not forget the odd LD. :D

Dave, This "redemption" thread seems to have gone down the toilet, don't you think?

I did it for the gogo owners really, I haven't really got any major gripes that would make me lose sleep.

I was waiting for them to speak up.
