Not worth it IMHO. Now, I have never flown prem. econ. but I did check out the seats and they are not that much better. Not 500 bucks better anyway :ang2 Thai air service and food is pretty good in cattle class and those premium econ. seats don't look like they are anything like business class seats.

They may offer you an upgrade at check in w/ a reduced price. At JFK I have been offered it for 199 each way (400). Thai also WOULD NOT gaurantee seating until check in, so don't get your heart set on that isle seat until you get to the airport.

If you have an isle seat I would skip the upgrade. If you are a big guy and stuck on the middle, then it might be worth it. I guess it also depends on your budget.

Hope this helps.

I finally earned enough FF miles to fly business on Thai from JFK to BKK. 17.5 hours in lay-flat seats with 60" pitch? Sounds good. That ticket retails for over $5K! (I would NEVER pay that out of pocket). IMOP there is little difference between Premium Economy and Economy, especially if you have aisle seet as stated by previous poster.

I was upgraded on my return trip last November, and I found it very very good. The service was outstanding,as was the quality of food and drink.Would I pay the difference?probably not as I have retired and can find better things for my money,if I could afford it then YES everytime! :D :drunk :bow

i have 8+ trips in the new airbus from lax to bkk

biz class is the bomb

ALMOST lie flat ( it is at a angle and tend to slide down)

great food and svc

i have used miles and free bumps to get biz class

prem economy is worth i ( for me )

wider seat, little more civilized

recline angle still shitty

flying 23rd on prem economy

have only done 2 flts on economy on the airbus

they are ok, get there early to get a seat

bottom line:

get to los any way you can

tip:

print out a seat map and take it with you

also, it helps to have your miles on one airline

i have TG gold status and i have gotten the seat i want MOST of the time

also i have a annual free upgrade in class on my birthday

also i have had at least 6 free bumps in class over time.....

also, TG has an office easy to get to in bkk on silom road

and the office in Pattaya

handy for extending your trip a day or so

they always quote me a charge for changing on the phone,, speaking english

...but never have once i go to the office

i have been treated much better as a frequent flier on thai

even booked economy, than china air or eva

only flown them a few times, but just my experiance

foot note:

at age 52...

these trips are starting to kick my ass

the jetlag, not the girls!
