THE SUPER CHEAP SKATE ROAD TO PATTAYA

Recommended Posts

What is the cheapest way to get to pattaya? I got into bangkok airport and everyone's got a way. I've seen some taxis for as much as 3000 to 1,500 baht. I've also been told of a bus to get there for under 1000.

Can you of you salt dogs school a newbie??? :bj2

Is that cheap enough ?

timing is everything

several threads if u do a search

but yes Bell is great if u arrive during the day

night, early morning 1200-1800bt for a taxi (prearranged)

probably just as well to contact the hotel ur staying at for pick-up service 1500-2000bt so theres no hassl getting there if ur not sure where ur going

get a card from the hotel of print addess directions in thai for taxi driver

most taxi drivers at airport are from BKK and don't know pattaya, especially where hotels are

chers

If my arrival/departure time doesn't fit in with the Bell service then I use one of the cheaper services in Pattaya. OnThe Ways is a travel service based in Pattaya and the cost for a private car is 1000 baht plus tolls (60 baht), more if your require a mini van. I like having the driver meet me as I leave customs and helping me with my bags to his vehicle.

There is another bus that goes directly between Suvamabhumi and Jomtien Beach. It's the #999 Bus and it's very visible as it's painted bright yellow. One needs to pick it up at the Transportation Terminal at the airport. You can get a free shuttle from the airport to the transportation terminal. The bus leaves the airport at 6:30am, 9:00am, 1:00pm, and 5:00pm. The cost is only 106 baht, and you receive a free bottle of water and a pastry.

It ends up Chaiyapruek Road and Jomtien Beach Road (actually just a few doors away from Jomtien Beach Road).

The bus TO Suvamabhumi leaves Jomtien Beach at 9:00am, 1:00pm, 4:00pm, and 7:30pm.

Here is a number for the bus station at Jomtien: 038-231-142.

I have used this bus even when going to Bangkok, as I live in Jomtien, and much easier to get to than the bus station on North Pattaya Road. You can connect with many buses at the airport transportation terminal, at a very inexpensive price. The last one I took was 35 baht to near The Mall on Ramkhamhaeng. My Thai friend likes these better because they're newer, and less crowded.

Times for Bell transport from airport are 8a, 10a, 12n, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm so the big yellow bus times work in quite well with this if you dont want to hang around waiting for Bell bus. PC800, will the jomtien bus actually let you off somewhere on Sukhumvit (say pattaya Klang) or does it not stop at all until Jomtien.??

Alan the one time that I was able to take the Bell bus back in Nov there was also another bus service to Jomtien near where the Bell lady was located at level 1 at the airport. She was located closer to where the food court is located. You might want to check out their times.

The Bell service is convenient. Out from customs, down the ramp, go to door #7. If your timing is off, take free shuttle to bus station.

As far as I know there are actually two bus routes to Pattaya from the bus station. The most obvious and well marked ends up in Jomtien. I would not recommend for a first timer. You can be let off almost anywhere along Sukumvit as long as you know where you are or can explain to the hostess, otherwise you end up in Jomtien way down the beach. The price is right, at 106 baht.

I arrive on EVA a little after 1100. If I rush to immigration and don't get stuck in a long line, I can just make the Bell Service bus. If I get tied up or the plane is late, then it's off to the bus terminal for the 1300 bus. Either way I'm home cheap and easy.

The bus station has banks, change, ATM's, 7-11, food vendors, toilets, as well as buses. In October, the one year old roof leaked like a sieve in the downpours. TIT

The Big Yellow Bus (I was told it was #999) but an airport website called it 389----does stop at a couple of places if asked in advance, including North Pattaya. But it's never stopped when I have been on it so do not know the drop off points. I do have a 2nd number to call, in addition to 038-231-142-----082-134-4099. I hope that is a 2nd number, but it's in Thai so not sure as I am reading on a small schedule.

I agree, that it's worth a little extra to be brought to your hotel, especially for someone new, but for those who live in Jomtien, the Big Yellow bus is great.

Can anyone please confirm the current last departure from Suvarnabhumi of the yellow 999 bus to Jomtien. I seem to remember that it was 19:30, but I'm not sure. Critical for me as I shall be arriving ex Qatar at 17:50. in 4 weeks time. Will have to book Mr Toom if it's not 19:30.
