newbie needs help

well, my advice would be.. toronto to london or manchester to bkk

or toronto to vancouver to hong kong or singaore to bkk.

either way is a hell of a long trip. an around the world fare using either 'star alliance' or 'one world' airline partners may end up just as cheap. google them to find out which airlines may suit you. if you are travelling that far, pick up all the the flying miles you can.

have a great trip, you wont regret it.

EVA goes through Vancouver. Check their website. Sometimes have super bargins. Shortest total flight time from west coast. I haven't checked but they probably arrive same time as Seattlites at mid-day.

any body from toronto ontario canada with helpful advice on flights NOT going thru the usa etc would be much appreciated

If you're still struggling with flights, send a PM to Tangent as he's Canadian.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you are using miles, then I think you have to go through Vancuver and HongKong or Tokyo with AC or UA.

If you are on your on dime, I would go to Vancuver on AC, then take EVA Airlines (BR) through Tapei (Or China Air (CI) if they leave from there).

I depart from Atlanta, and just get to the west cost however, from there I take BR and it is quite economical. I go through SF, but Vancuver prices about the same.

The routes through Europe do not work.
