In particular the measure with regards to liquids (bottle of non-explosive cough mixture !!!!) in hand luggage.

Very much so as well as restrictions on duty free booze if booked on a through connecting flight.

When I went to Cambodia earlier this month, I only went through the one scan (and search). It was the same when I went to Kuala Lumpur last month.

Maybe it depends on the airline or where you're flying to?

Don Meuang is two baggage scans, one prior to check-in and one prior to the departure gates. Suvarnabhumi is one scan prior to the departure gates. The scan of hold baggage takes place after it has been checked in and before it is loaded to the baggage bins or aircraft hold.

Last year at the boarding gate I saw two "dustbins"filled with bottles of wine and other drinks being confiscated by the security staff. So yes they are doing it.

Hell yes thailand has adopted those stupid security measures even more so then the states. In US you go through security and then buy water or something from the store you can take it on the plane. In Thailand nope can't do that. Also just came back from Thailand with the 2/12 yr old daughter. Brought milk in the little boxes they sell there could only take 2. Since thats all we could fit in that stupid plastic zip lock bag. Talk about frigging stupid :ang2 :banghead

Fatboyfat, when I returned home a few weeks ago, the limit for liquids/gels etc was 100ml. There was a russian woman in front of me, she had loads of bottles (shampoo shower gel etc etc) taken off her. She was demanding them back! T he thai woman official said, fine you have back you miss flight! I didnt hang around to see the final outcome!.

:thumbup they had an amazing program on telly this week where the wankers at BAA admitted that the security measures are largely THEATRE to reassure the public.

the program went on to show how 2 passengers taking 100 ml (the allowed amount) could blow an aeroplane to bits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!so make sure you only have 1 crazy man on board :chogdee
