Keep in mind that most places that offer monthly rates do not include water and electric. Also they will either have reduced room cleaning or none at all unless you pay extra for each cleaning.

I know one high quality guest house on 2nd Road near soi 6 that includes water and electric in the monthly discounted rate. Plus the room is cleaned daily. Discount varies depending on the time of year and how long one will be staying.

Thats the place where you get to hear and smell the body functions of others, as the wall seperating the bathroom from the living area does not go to the ceiling. If you consider that place high quality I would hate to see a place that you consider low quality.

Hey it's a $14USD per night guest house and if your expecting the Four Seasons your in for a big disappointment. No it's not perfect but it's clean and only minutes from Walking Street.

Emil,

Funnily enough, I've just finished having a look at a couple of places in North Pattaya. I'll do a review with a few pics next week when i get back down south.

An example for 9000 plus utilities: Diamond City Place

There is a noisy Karaoke nearby, so visit at night to check if your room will be affected by the noise.

Another choice, though at the upper end of your budget, is Sermsri Apartments on the Phra Tamnak Road before you reach the Siam Bayshore.

Probably a little overpriced for what they offer, but you can take a look. I'll dig out their number later.

The cheapest room goes for the $14 and from what I hear there is no windows or A/C. I've visited bargirl rooms that had at least a window and they cost about half. Also they had a fully enclosed bathroom. I've never stayed at any place that didn't have an enclosed bathroom, is that common in the Philly area as I've only stayed at one place there and it had an enclosed bathroom.

The only place that would come close is a few of the latrines I had to use in the Army.

I think we have already ascertained that you are not describing a high quality guesthouse.

Also, what is the monthly discounted rate in April for the room without windows or aircon? The one priced at 450 baht per day.

That way we can compare it to what is on offer elsewhere.

I am sure that you will not answer that simple question. If that is the case, my recommendation will be to avoid any place that cannot be upfront with it's pricing policy.

Once again I can only answer your simple question with the following:

I don't own the high quality guest house on 2nd Road near Soi 6. I don't set pricing nor do I set policy and procedures as I'm a guest NOT A OWNER OR PARTNER IN ANY BUSINESS IN PATTAYA. I have no idea what the monthly pricing would be. The person best able to answer that question is the owner of the high quality guest house and you can reach him at www.skytopcenterpattaya.com for up to the minute prices and policies.

Emil,

That is not quite correct. There is a window (of sorts).......... it runs the whole length (width?)/height of the room. I understand it is where the tourist police conducted "interviews" in the past. At least that's what the sign that covers the entire window/glass wall indicates.

The owner of the aforementioned guesthouse is welcome to post his monthly tariff here.

Again, I am sure that he won't, as it will only illustrate the relatively poor value offered by this type of accommodation.

I'll take the time here to reprint a recent post from MM to BigD.....just in case someone missed it:

As they say, there's one born every minute. I just hope the majority of them did not come from this board and your recommendations.

With the exposure you have been giving this place on this website over the last 3-4 years that I know of, it's likely to have had some success snaring a few guys.

That's gotta stop, you know. There are lots of really good places out there that are comparable or better for price, location, amenities and don't require a prepay on rental. We'll wait for CheshireTom's upcoming encyclopedic report on guesthouses and hotels.

As to this thread, I am closing it because it is going in circles. It has been eye-opening in some respects.

Oh for fucks sake... I was looking forward to some suggestions as I might make it a whole month next winter......DOES EVERY POST HAVE TO END UP WITH SKYTOP WARS. FuckME :banghead

Don't get your knickers in a twist. There is no war or even bias, on my part at least.

BigD has been warned against his constant spamming of the forum. You should be grateful that there are people keeping an eye on such disgraceful behaviour, as it's possible that an uninitiated reader could take his advertising seriously.

I've given a couple of suggestions. You can take it from there.

The monthly discounted rate that we heard about a few months back amounted squat. Most places offer a monthly rate of about 10 times the daily rate, the place your refering to wasn't even in the same ballpark.

Sailfast I just don't want to see anymore BMs get burned by BigD's suggestions. I don't know how many dissatisfied customers have to bitch before he quits hyping the place. It appears that his loyalities are to the owner and not to fellow BMs.

I like Tropical Bert's it's even closer to soi 6 then my favorite guest house. Clean with AC, TV, fridge and in room safe. Bert serves good pub grub at a reasonable price. I eat breakfast there almost everyday I'm in Pattaya. I haven't stayed there but I've gone through the rooms. www.tropicalberts.com

Yensabai Condo near Walking Street. Huge studio with kitchen, 25"TV, AC, in room safe. I've stayed there a few times and felt it's very good value for the money. www.pattayarentaroom.com

That's a good measure of what kind of monthly rate to look for. The LK Metropole and LK Mansions (who publish their daily and monthly rates) offer monthly rates for about 10-12 times the daily rate. Any discount that isn't in that ballpark is no real monthly discount.

My post was directed more towards BigD, but, as it's clear that he cannot, will not, ever, stop himself from bragging about the place then I am pleading with MM to include a subliminal message in the banner ad urging all readers to ignore any mention of _ _ _ _ _ _.

My knickers are not twisted. For your information, it's more like a wedgie. Not sure if "wedgie" is in the Oxford English Dictionary so please allow me to describe; My knickers are all bunched up in my ass crack.

Loud and clear? Roger, over and out.

Say no more, I will make a response to MM comments then from now on I'll refrain from making comments about Sky-top unless asked. Guy asked a question and since his budget is limited, I figured my answer would be useful as Sky-Top is in his price range. If he said his budget was 20-30K I wouldn't have answered.

Since, in your "quote", you FAILED to include MY THANKS to YOU for mentioning other properties, I will say it AGAIN; Thank you BigD for those suggestions of Tropical Berts and Yensabai Condo. You where even nice enough to include those links, that was extremely helpful and in no way upsetting, in fact, I am very thankful.

Thank you again BigD.

Thanks,

Sorry about that. I went back and modified my answer as I felt it was to snippy but I wasn't quick enough.

Many times I've recommended other properties if I felt they fit the OP needs. Yah know it's kind of funny all the other places I've recommended MUST be perfect as I've never heard the level of whining with these other establishments. I especially enjoy the comments from guys who never stayed or bothered to stop in.
