Considering dental work at Bumrungrad, Bangkok hospital or BIDC. This place has its own lab and therefore can complete work in shorter period of time. Does anyone have experience with BIDC? Please advise.

In general:

You have dentists and you have dental clinics. Pretty well every dentist has a basic "lab" with x-ray and the like, very fast. Pretty well every clinic has its own lab which compares with all the other labs.

 

Picking one over the other because of the presence of the lab isn't much of a reason. If that is your only reason, then a hospital-based clinic would win every time, that'd be my opinion.

I haven't used BIDC before, but I am planning to use them on my next trip to BKK. They specialize in cosmetic dentistry and have an excellent reputation. There are plenty of positive testimonials to be found on the internet. One other advantage is that they don't practice double pricing for foreigners.

 

As an alternative, I would also consider using Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic (Sukhumvit 21), Dental Hospital (Sukhumvit 49) or Asavanant (Sukhumvit 55)

That's not true - very few dental clinics have their own dental lab. If you need a crown or bridge and your time is limited, then it's a massive advantage to go to a clinic with its own dental lab. The turnaround time is much quicker and any adjustments can be made instantly or at short notice.

 

Bumrungrad doesn't (or certainly didn't used to) have it's own dental lab. They need about 2 weeks to get a bridge or crown made up as the molds have to be sent out to an external lab. In comparison, BIDC, Thantakit and such places can get the job done within 3 days.

I wrote my post very quickly and it was meant to target those who have had some experience or info. on BDIC or the other dental hospitals and clinics in BKK or Pattaya. In fact, most dentist and hospitals do not have dental labs, including Bumrungrad. X-ray machines do not generally fall within this definition.

 

A dental lab makes crowns, bridges, veneers and implants. The benefit of using a facility with a lab is time. It can save you weeks.

I can recommend this place if you're looking at getting the work done in Pattaya - located on Pratumnak Rd and they do have their own dental lab on the premises. I have used them before and the quality / service is excellent. Pricing is competitive too.
