Haven't stayed for a while but there were no joiner fees - sometimes they took the girls ID sometimes they didn't.

The place was built in the 60's (I believe) so is 'tired'.

The staff were friendly and there's nothing particularly wrong with the place its just overpriced now for what it is.

Try to avoid rooms near the pool as there's loads of mosquito's around it.

There's a small restaurant 100 yds up the road called The Cool House - good food and good prices.

I used to stay there occasionally. No joiner fees.

Have not been there for at least 3 years. Rooms were dated, a little worn then.

Only stayed there once in 1989 when it was called Nipa Lodge

It must be bit out dated now, cannot remember any renovations

being done over the past years either although maybe i wrong.

It is a good location with everything not to far away.

And of course there is no joiner fees.

The Nova (Nipa) Lodge was Pattaya's first purpose built hotel .................. it was put up in the early 60s prior to the Vietnam War and provided pretty much the only proper hotel accommodation in Pattaya during the whole of the 60s. The rooms are pretty small and the hotel visibly suffers from a lack of recent investment.

It sits in an absolute prime location though, particularly when you consider some of the recent beachfront construction and that which is planned or currently underway, so I would assume that its days are pretty much numbered.

No I am not staying there. I know the location well and think its a winner but I was unsure of its condition and conditions. From 1 November its 1200 baht a night minimum and from what is said in the thread, sounds over the top. Thanks for the comments anyway.

Theres nothing that wrong with the place other than being about 500 baht a night overpriced.

I would stay there again but not at 1200 baht

I stay on the mid 90's on this hotel that host the first bar in Pattaya in 1964, but some hotels, like Nautical Inn, soi 11 was already open. Great location, actually with Nova group, certainly soon complete renovation.

nova lodge now called centera beach hotel with new owners (thai) but same staff, on going renovations until november so expect noise, no joiners fee, prices have gone down (heineken 60 bht), ask for superior room , they are very nice and good value at 1500/1700

This was the first hotel I stayed in Pattaya in 1976. It was called Nipa Lodge then and had a mini zoo in the gardens.

I suppose if you want a mini zoo now you can go to Soi 6!

Aah, I loved the old Nipa Lodge. Stayed there twice a year from about 1990 till 2003, when an involvement with one of the receptionists all ended in tears (mine). Never saw the mini zoo though; where exactly was it? Used to love that garden with the pool and that little thatch-covered table, and sad when I saw it had all gone in favour of that awful crazy golf course. One of the staff told me that the hotel was originally built with chalets, but I'm not sure.

yes had a few stays there in the 1990's - must say that the pool was the best in pattaya at that time - however even then standard rooms were showing their age and were overpriced - reason for staying was that thai air and eva gave two nights at reduced price at this hotel which was the only central one as far as i can remember - always the best thing about nova was its location and pool. look forward to a few reports.
