US to BKK over xmas

have been doing my checking as I should have 2 weeks off for xmas/new year, plus I'll take an additional week.

looking for a flight anytime after 20Dec08 returning on or about 11Jan09 +/- a couple days. I normally fly NWA MSP-NRT-BKK and RT (NW19-21;22-20) shortest trip and I'm a world perks elite.

everything i punch up is over $2000USD RT, am considering anything i can find in the under $1500USD range as long as it doesn't involve a whole bunch of extra travel time!

would concider going out to west coast and trying Eva/JAL/China/Korea/Cathway ect., even though i lose an additional day each way

anyone ever try the "all Asia" pass on Cathway?

any help would be greatly appreciated, never tried the booking in BKK option, have heard thousand of seats have been canceled for '09.

Don't forget, you may also have some trouble finding a hotel room that time of year.

 

Otherwise, I'd check the flights from the east coast or the west coast. You might find a better deal. $2000 RT does seem ridiculous.

I have a friend from CA coming to Thailand on about the same dates so I’ve been watching the fares.

 

Last night when I looked, the lowest fare I found for your travel dates was $1786, flying 12/22 and returning 1/11 (MSP-BKK-MSP).

I only found 1 cheap Left Coast flight for that period and it was on Christmas day out of LAX.

You have picked the busiest time of the year to fly to and from the U.S., therefore you will pay the highest prices of the year. Since you are returning after the 1st of the year, the overall price of the ticket might be a little cheaper than if you were returning by, or shortly after, 1 January.

Also, December 20th to January 10th, is the absolute peak of High Season in LOS so you can also expect to pay more for hotels, etc., etc., etc.

Already have my ticket for the 2nd to the 14th of January.

$1,274.41.

But I bought it early April, before a lot of the prices increases.
