Looks like I will be splitting up my vacation time and traveling from Thailand to Hong Kong to meet up with friends in late Feb.

Is there a website for Asia flights like travelocity.com, Kayak.com. US based sites don't come up with much, if anything at all.

Any suggestions for cheap flights? Anyone fly from U-Tapao direct to Hong Kong?

You might want to chack flights from Bangkok to Macau.

They used to have cheap flights on this route.

Not U-Tapao but plenty of choice.....

Cathay 8k baht

China 6.8k (14.5k)

Emirates 6.2k

Kenyan 5.6k (12k)

PIA 5.5k

All not including taxes and fees.

Or treat yourself Biz Class, bracketed above or Thai do it for 17.8k.

I would pick Cathay!

Why would he want to fly to Macau if he is going to Hong Kong? :devil

Air Asia BKK-HKG is usually available at just over 6k Baht incl of taxes. Cheaper during promotions.

Well, duh.... How about to save money!!! It's not that complicated!

It used to be FAR cheaper to go to Macau than Hong Kong, and it's a short ferry ride to Hong Kong.

Hello - Hello - Am I getting through???

Actually, not a bad idea to go to Macau instead. I'll end up there at some point.

Do you know if you can get the ferry to HK without clearing Macau customs? I know you can get to Macau form HKG without going through HK customs.

Thanks everyone... and a Happy New Year!

And that used to be air asia to macau, now air asia flies DIRECT to hong kong,as well as to macau, so easier and presumably cheaper to go direct.

I don't think that you can - The airport is a ways from the ferry landinds. Customs in Macau used to be quick and easy.

You're getting through loud and clear. You'll save the princely sum of 1k Baht on a return flight and then still have the time and expense of doing MFM-HKG-MFM. :devil

I've only been through once and that was last Jan. It was packed full.

If you have the time to look at my post, I said that IT USED TO BE CHEAPER.

Now that Air Asia flys direct to Hong Kong, it is not.

What time of the week was it? During racing season and weekends, it can be a zoo.

Most of the time, a piece of cake, IMHO

So you suggested flying to somewhere else because it is more expensive.

Personally it would be better to pay the small extra and go by emirates rather than the air-asia one. Even in wooden class you will get personal tv screen and better food.

Room-wise probably asiarooms.com has a reasonable selection.....make no mistake..its gonna be small. The last one i stayed in i opened the door and fell out the window!

Second hand Johnnys !!! Every one of you !!! :wanker:

Fly Air Asia, mate, it is a good deal all around. I have done it, as recently as last month.

Yes, pay double/triple (or more) for the Emirates flight - the devastantingly long 3 hour flight with the food and the TV. :moon

PS - Ferry landings ? I have no idea what that is about... Google SkyPier... :poke

Bring it !!! :hijack

Yes, no decisions about the class of seat there, just a fight to get on and make sure you even get one.
