30 / 60 day visa from aus

Recommended Posts

hi im thinking of staying longer then 30 days next time. i dont know how long for at this time . so what would be the best way to get the right visa.

1 can i get a one way air ticket with a 30 day visa then apply for extention from say jomtien for 30 / 60 .. and how many times can i do that or do i need to do the visa run ?

or 2 do i need to have the RETURN ticket paid for before i can get into the kingdom. if so i would then have to pay for a change of flight date for my return home

hope you understand [ i dont ]

thanks mick

Officially you need an ongoing flight to gain admittance, but, I personally have never been asked to show it.

The airline Might refuse you to board their aircraft leaving Australia as technically they are responsible for taking you back if refused entry.

If you only go on a "visa exempt" stamp on arrival it is for 30 days and then if you do a visa run, overland, you will only get 15 days upon re-entry,however you would get another 30 days if you fly back into the kingdom.

So my opinion would be to get a tourist visa of 60 or 90 days (not sure if you have a choice or only the one available) before you go then either extend in Jomtien, think might be only 7 or 14 days though or do a visa run. Also before you leave Australia keep checking air asia and buy the cheapest one way ticket to cambodia or laos (closest so probably cheapest destinations) for the last day of your tourist visa which will either be sacrificed if returning to Australia or will be the outgoing leg for a visa run.

I flew in from Oz on January the 14th last year, there was no requirement for an out bound flight to have been pre-booked, i came in on a double entry tourist visa issued at Brisbane.

If you arrive with no tourist visa (or leave Australia for that matter) you will be required to have an outbound flight already booked.

I extended the second entry of my visa for 30 days at jomtien.

What Australians get issued at the airport, allowing them in for 30 days, is not a visa! Call it whatever, it's a 30 day stamp or visa waiver, it is not a visa! OP, why not just get a tourist visa before travelling, 60 days, extension possible, no problems.

You may not be allowed on the plane with a one way ticket and no visa.

Two one way tickets would be expensive!
