Cheap flight from US to BKK

Recommended Posts

Anyone had any experience with Aero Svit airlines. They are a russian carrier but travel worldwide. They have a round trip business class fare from JFK to BKK for $2,400. us. Price is good but I know nothing about the airline.

Aero Svit is a Ukraine-based international carrier. I've never flown with it, but it gets very poor reviews at Sky Trax: Aero Svit reviews. Apparently no need to buy a biz ticket, just pay economy and offer a flight crew member $100 to move you to the biz section. also, the schedule to fly from New York to Bangkok is inconvenient, with long layovers and even an overnight stop on the way back.

On a more positive note. I just got a flight on China Airlines JFK to BKK via Taipei for $846.38 all in with tax and fees. Departure is mid May, returning middle of the first week in June.

I checked the EVA Hot Fares and Members Only section, but couldn't find a flight that matched my dates for anything under $1,200. Too bad, because Newark is better airport for me than JFK. This trip is a vacation and not not business, so I have to pay the ticket myself and that means I'm after the cheapest fare, assuming it doesn't involve a 40-hour journey each way.

The travel time, i.e. from take-off at JFK to touch down in BKK, is about 24 hours, which is reasonable. There's a stop in Anchorage and change of planes in Taipei, but the layover times aren't bad.

However, the latest departure date for these fares on China Airlines is May 20. It's an option worth considering for anyone planning a trip with a departure between now and then.

Thanks for the reply. My only concern with China Air is their saftey record.

I think it's a lot better now as compared to a decade ago. I flew with China Air last year on 5 seperate flights and all got me to my destination in one piece. But I'd rather put my hands in China Air over some unknown Ukranian airline.

LOL you have to be kidding. Your considering flying an obscure ruskky airline and you are concerned about safety LOL. I personally wouldn't even consider flying russian equipment or crew even if it was free. Just to be fair I wouldn't fly afgan, or air burma, or air congo or whatever. I also make it a point to not fly NW if at all possible. Not for safeties sake but because of the terrible service ect
