Went to a casino that was showing the fight for free last night. The place was packed. There was Manny looking at a 17 pound 5 in height and 6 in reach disadvantage. He then proceeded to beat that crap out of Margarito. His blinding speed and flurry of combonations was insurmountable. It was basically over by the 4th round. But Magarito kept coming back so Manny kept pounding on him. The thing that amazes me is not only how fast Manny is and how he punches equally with both hands, but just how hard he hits. At the end of the first round you could see Margaritos face was red and starting to swell. They should have stopped the fight by the 10th and Manny kept asking the ref to look at Magaritos eye. But they let it go on. All and all it shows that Manny is going to go down as one of the best of the era. Now if Mayweather will just stop making excuses we can have a great fight.

Do you ride Motobike in Pattaya?
vegasdave replied to gaijin's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I think it is a risk benefit situation. There is certainly a risk when riding in LOS. But there is also a very large benefit. I would never consider riding in BKK, but in places like Pattaya, and Chang Mai or other smaller places it is really the way to get around. I wear a real helmet, and never ever get near it if I intend to drink. But the ability and freedom to go where you want when you want is without a doubt a huge advantage. Not to mention that you can get off the beaten path, and explore areas you simply couldn't without personal transportation. -
so basicly all the flights that arrive after about 11pm (allowing for customs ect.) are SOL hmmmmmm

Htc Desire/hd2 Or I-phone 4/3gs ?
vegasdave replied to LocalYokul's topic in Technical problems or questions.
I have a 3gs love it. I keep realizing just how dam powerful it is. I had a 2g a 3g and of course I will end up getting a 4. The overall ease of use, and the boatload of apps really does it for me. Not to say that google et al aren't coming up with some great stuff. Just the overall package that apple offers seems to always hit that sweet spot for the majority of consumers. Cant wait for ios4 seems to address many issues. Would love to see them open the phone up to anyone but ATT though they really suck. -
Good job Canada!. The gold medal hockey game was a good one for sure. Both teams played their best and that is all you can ask. Over all I was impressed with the level of skill and daring in the games. Seems each time things get higher, faster and more risky. As far as curling. I have to admit I found myself watching it for more than a few minutes. Something very zen about it. over the years I have had a chance to spend a fair amount of time in Vancouver, truly a world class city. My only concern is that after this it might get overwhelmed with tourists ect and become a bit jaded. I think it is going to be very interesting to compare the Russian games to these. I think it is going to be apples and oranges. It will be hard to beat the openness and downright friendliness and civility of Canada compared to the arrogant and ill mannered Russians. Just my opinion of course

Whats the lowest fare you've ever paid to Los ?
vegasdave replied to Chivas's topic in Airline Discussion
Similar to bigdusa. They posted infant fare as full adult fare on expedia, and they had to honor it. LAX to BKK round trip taxes ect all in for $142. I also got miles as well. The only mistake I made was not booking several tickets, virtually every date or flight I put in was available. I could have booked one flight a week for over a year and gotten into the courier business, because at that time they allowed a fair amount of luggage as well. Oh well still got a nice trip in cheap. -

Thailand Health Insurance Expat Expert Needed
vegasdave replied to midlifecrisis's topic in Expat Issues
I am not clear on what some of you are saying. If I am over 60 but under 65 I cant get insurance? Or I will have to look harder and pay extra (which I dont mind). Within the next year or so I will no longer be able to afford health insurance here in the states. So I was hoping that I would be able to move to LOS and get coverage till medicare kicks in. -
LOL you have to be kidding. Your considering flying an obscure ruskky airline and you are concerned about safety LOL. I personally wouldn't even consider flying russian equipment or crew even if it was free. Just to be fair I wouldn't fly afgan, or air burma, or air congo or whatever. I also make it a point to not fly NW if at all possible. Not for safeties sake but because of the terrible service ect

Dental prices in the States
vegasdave replied to a topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
yes as american dental prices go that is pretty good. I just went to mine and for basicly 4 small fillings he wants over $700. I know they go to school ect but the prices are really prohivitive. I will be getting a fair lot of work done next trip to LOS. I need about 4k worh of work done, and yes I have taken care of my teeth fairly well just that time is catching up with me I think. -
I use mostly macs as well. At yes from time to time even I will get popups. The difference is that that actual script and or malware will not affect me. The notion that you should have to somehow limit your surfing because there are some a**holes out there really ticks me off. Fortunately with my mac's I can roam where I wish, but when on my pc I do feel I have to be more cautious. What gets me is that this particular malware installs a virus and then makes you pay them to remove it. I just don't understand why the authorities are not able to "follow the money" and nail these guys. The same would be true for spammers. Virtualy all spam sells something, can't they just nail the people whose products are being sold.

well if you want to take a risk, Looking like you haven't got a dime, and then hiding your money in more or less plain sight you can get away with it. Think of the times they have gone into peoples houses after they died and found large sums of cash. No one ever thought they had a penny because the person lived like a pauper. My trick is that I am such a slob and have crap laying everywhere that it would befuddle anyone trying to figure what was valuable and what was just trash LOL. Just to dam much work to go through it all.

LOL jacko. Those that say don't know, and those that know don't say. If I had the key to getting rich, I would surely not share it with anyone, maybe my nephew on my deathbed.

Of course no MM will ever overcome a bad trading method. But it will allow you to have a clear way of managing drawdowns and over all control of your risk of ruin. I do agree if you can find a consistant EV (expected value) and you are able to sustain the most extreme fluctuations then you have a reasonable chance of making a bit of money. I think where most people fail is in terms of not having enough funds to make it through the fluctuations. Again this is where a specific MM plan and being able to emotionaly take the ride down come into play.

Well stated by many of you. As Alfred said if does seem to be about money management and self control. There is something called the Kelly, or kelly system. It is a formula that allows you to determine your risk of ruin. Basiclly it helps determine an amount of your stake to invest in each trade. Based on several criteria. You can also set you tolerance as well. Many people will use a standard number like 2% or 3% of your account on a trade. But a Kelly number may more accurately reflect what you should or shouldn't be risking. This formula applies to investing, and gambling. I first became exposed to it through a team of professional gamblers. Very successful ones I might add. Here is a link with a bit about it http://www.investopedia.com/articles/trading/04/091504.asp

I have usualy taken a cheap flight to LAX from Vegas. Then got on one of the airlines from there to LOS. Saved a couple hundred that way. The only exception was when JAL had a flight from Vegas. On the way over it stopped in LAX to pick up passengers and top of the tanks before the long leg. But on the way back it went directly to Vegas non stop. But that flight no longer exists. It was very odd taking the 40 min flight to LAX in a 747.

Indeed Dexter is on fine show.

Yeah it is really too bad you had to change your plans. It is unfortuate that the US has gone so crazy on this sort of thing. I was thinking though. If you could teach her a few words of spanish, she could just cross the boarder from the south. Then she can get some free medical care, and a few other goodies on the way through. There is really no problem with this at all, millions and millions have done it and there are virtually no reprocusions. Ok I will remove tongue from cheek now

Very interesting indeed. One can see why they need to get extra tea money. I was just listening to a radio add here. The where recruiting officers. The starting pay is $53k. Plus retirement, and full benifits. That doesent count all the overtime. And on top of that if you call them for a house burgerlry or car theft they will not even come out on a call, they just tell you to go to the station to fill out a report. Also anyone who calls the police is considered a suspect and is the first person to be looked into. Their theory is that if you had to call them you where doing "something" wrong. When my neighbor was jumped going to throw out the trash, he called the police. When asked what he should do or what the police could do they simplely said. Arm yourself. We can complain about corupt police in LOS but best to look at what we have right at home.

Used these guys a couple times. May not be the cheapest but where conveient at the time. Good service, good cars, and good insurance. They also have a vip card at no charge that gave a discount. http://pattayacar-rent.com/

sleeziest careers Top 10. Sorry if this offends anyone. 10. minister/priest/muhla 9. bill collector 8. cop 7. lawyer 6. real estate agent 5. car sales 4. insurance sales 3. time share sales 2. right wing radio host and the winner by a huge margin 1. politician To keep this somewhat on topic. It depends on the operation but yes you should get the "free" gift. Here in Vegas they are like rats. Every casino has a booth and people on the street try to snag you as well. Usualy with tickets to a second rate show. The will even have the nerve to ask you for a $20 "deposit" that they will give back to you when you show up. Basicly you will be put through a high presure sales pitch and end up being belittled and harrased. Time shares are probably the worst scam around. But yet some people think they are great. These are usualy people who like the idea of having a place that is more like an apt as opposed to just a hotel room. But the economics make no sense at all. Others actualy think they are buying something. Of course they aren't there are not property rights involved in the traditional sense. You are just buying time. The latest twist is "condotels". In this scam you acutaly "buy" a hotel room. Not cheap I might add. 50k to 200k. Then basicly you "rent" it out on a nightly basis and it is admistered by the hotel itself. I am not sure what the split is but I am sure you come out on the short end of things. Could take decades to breat even on the deal. And meanwhile a bunch of fish paid for the constrution the hotel. Thus eliminating debt service for the operaters of the hotel. Brilliant actualy. Here in Vegas seem to be no shortage of fish. Just drop the line in the water and you are bound to catch something.

My sister is a speech therapist. She works in a school district and has a Masters degree in the field. She works with all kinds of impediments. The bad part is she is not in LOS. As she plans to retire in the next couple years she hopes to do a bit of the expat thing, and live abroad for a few years. I know she mentioned that there where some schools that where looking for people with her credentials. So hopefully there may be someone like that in LOS.
