Can anyone recommend from first- or at least second-hand knowledge a top notch dentist for having false teeth made - top notch functionally and cosmetically - and with adequate english? Price is not relevant. But he/she should be able to work quickly and do the whole thing in a week or so?

Alternatively I don't mind Bangkok - can make the trips from Patt for the appointments - if anyone will vouch for such a dentist there.

Many thanks

I agree. I use Pattaya International Hospital for my cleanings, no other work, lucky for me, in three years. Dr. Aree has been there the entire three years and I have heard nothing but good comments about her.

Agree. The problem is not finding a dentist but in the time. A week is REALLY pushing it.

Almost any dental clinic or hospital can do what you want without language problems. Dr Aree is a big favourite of Pattaya-goers.

What type of false teeth are you talking about.

Do you want full dentures or full dental implants.

Both can be done in as little as 7 days although

the dental implants are just a little bit more expensive :clap2

In the unlikely event you get an offer to do implants in a week, my advice is to pass it up - unless you plan to be making a LOT of return visits in the next year.

Bridges should have follow-ups but implants absolutely NEED follow-ups. Unlike a bridge, you can't take implants out and put them in your pocket if they're not just right.

Dental implant technology has vastly improved within the

last few years. Were in 2009 not 1986..... There have been

great advances in "one time" implants.

There is the Nobel Biocare "All in 4 implant" that uses 3d cat scan

technology which allows the dentist to accurately view where

the implant is to be placed hence they are able

to do implants in one day. This method has been approved

by the FDA as well.

Implants will require less follow up care and are more cost

effective in the long run but the whole point of getting them done

in Thailand is how cheap they can be done. Follow up appts can be

done in the country where you live....

Thanks for the replies.

I had in mind dentures - full set upper and semi-full set lower. Presumably a week to 10 days is doable for this.

I am aware of the high reputation that Dr Aree enjoys among Pattaya expatriates, but can anyone speak up for her work on specifically this sort of work? (That's why I asked for first- or maybe second-hand experience.)

I also mentioned BKK on the premise that the best dentists will probably be in that richer market. Would have been very willing to go there if the right dentist was strongly recommended. A day trip there would be an enjoyable diversion - when out of the dentist's chair.

I am intrigued by Packhike's claims - that implants are only a little more expensive, that this new and acceptable technique allows a single day complete operation and that this is all done competently in Pattaya. Again does he or anyone else have specific experience of this? With a name-able dentist?

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to combine a chore with pleasure in planning a PTT/BKK trip in May.

as a dentist, I can say that implants can be placed in one day, of course, although some pretreatment planning should be done including the fabrication of a surgical stent to most accurately guide the proper placement of the implants.

However implants require several months to integrate with the bone, and require a surgical uncovering, before the prosthetic portion can be put on. This means the denture or bridge portion would be made and inserted in your own country unless you returned to thailand, and are not trivial procedures, thus paying western prices for this.

As for getting dentures mades, especially for the partial denture which requires the fabrication of a metal framework, the limiting factor is the labwork that needs to be done to make the dentures. Keep in mind that cost of speed can be less accuracy.

the follow up post denture insertion is pretty simple, a check-up or two to make sure the denture isn't irritiating any specific part of the gums it rests on and grinding a bit away if it is.

If by "less" you mean "none, ever" then getting one-day implants in Thailand would be a great idea.

Unfortunately, it doesn't.

I don't think much of the plan to get the implants done here and the maintenance elsewhere. That doesn't always work out well.

To the OP: I have had a long and fantastic success with the St Louis Hospital dental clinic. Their staff are fabulous and they have dentists who do nothing BUT plates.

Sorry about that. St Louis is a very big hospital on Sathorn Road in Bangkok.
