Has anyone stayed here recently? I love this area of pattaya and normally stop at areca lodge but prices are getting ridiculous for there.

I stayed there about 5 months ago. not bad hotel for price, front desk service average, breakfast area average. has nice pool area. room not noisy, but might depend on which side of hotel you stay on. Good location was best selling point tho, 50 steps to Soi bukhao, 1 block off Soi Chaiyapoon and 3-4 minutes to Soi LK Metro. Has car parking area if you need that.

ive just had 3 weeks in Le Katai which is opposite Opey. The room i was in is on a parr with the rooms at Opey but are now priced at 350 b a night. Breakfast was pretty good as was the rest of the food.Totally agree, great area to stay in, and in the Oasis A Go Go are some very "cute" girls.

hi Guys Im staying there at the moment and its just a great area there are plenty of good deals to be had on rooms here Opey has a good pool and security is very good if you have freelancers back you do have the record of their id with reception but some of the smaller hotels and guest houses dont have full security at night but if you always barfine then you can always go back to the bar if you have any problems

but the Opey is a good place to stay and this is my second time staying in 5 months and it has a good pool and jsut nice and clean

What's Le Katai like, I've seen the signs for it, but wondered if it is linked to the Boy agogo, both are across from Opey. Or are they completely seperate

hi feileacan. Le katai has nothing to do with boy gogo. It is run by a nice chap called Andy and the food and internet (which also has 3 xboxes for you to use) is run by ian. the grub is always good, infact whilst i was there i saw a few blokes that where stopping at Opey come across for breakfast/lunch.

Cheers for that, I normally stay in JP and often eat in Juice across the road.

It might be worth his while to change the name, Katoi/Katai means Ladyboy.

It might put some potential customers off.

Hi this is Andy, the owner of "Le Katai" previously mentioned in this post.I did originally think about changing the name, but the place has been here for six years now,and the name is well known. Also it would mean changing the website, and links,so in the end I decided it was better to just keep it.I don't know why the original owner called it what he did,but it's easily remembered. And incidentally "katai" is Thai for rabbit, katoey is a ladyboy!!.Sounds similar, but not same same. :D

I am in Pattaya during November for a couple weeks and am considering this Hotel. Their web site indicates 950Bht for a poolside room.

Any suggestions on how to get the cheaper rates someone has mentioned on here (350Bht now). [i am sure there maybe some less than serious suggestions too].

Previously (May) and last year I stayed in the Siam Sawasdee for about 750Bht (inc breakfast) booked through direct rooms. But now everything seems more expensive.

Even when I visited the Hotel in May the rate was still around 700-800 Bht if I remember correctly, so not sure how some are lucky to get the 350Bht rate, the place seemed quiet in May and I doubt if it will be much better in November while the financial crisis continues. (maybe the Pound will be stronger)

I got a good flight deal and now looking for the same on the hotel. Then I shall have more to spend on the finer things Pattaya has to offer. :allright

I would appreciate any views. thanks

Andy, the 350B price wasnt for Opey,it was for Le Katai which is a guest house opposite Opey.

You can get cheaper rates on most hotels then what their websites advertise. My normal place advertises over 1350 a night, but never pay more then 850. The key to this is actually calling them and booking your room, as opposed to doing it via the websites. That is my best suggestion, as most of the time if you call, they feel they are going to get the business right away.

As for Opey, have had many customers going and coming from there, so its another one that I would recommend based on that fact. If I am doing ride alongs I try and ask the customers how they liked their stay, and everyone is happy to share the ups and downs of their hotel.

Anybody ever stayed at the junior suite in Opey ? Just wondered if they're worth the extra baht and if they overlook the pool.

Many thanks

I`m just back from two weeks in the Jr. Suite. I would recommend The Opey in a flash but not this room. The bedroom in the suite has a sloping ceiling/wall and no natural light, so it can be a bit claustrophobic. The room does not overlook the pool. I think it is overpriced at 950b. Having said that I would return to the Opey in another room no problem.

Cheers, will stick with the poolside room at 850 THB.

I stayed there late June early July in a poolside room, have booked again for November but this time requested a room overlooking soi lengkee.

Staff are very helpful and the 2 young receptionists are lookers.
