ok, i have book direct with Emirates, which means i get to choose where i want to sit on the plane.

have not flown with emirates before, so have no idea which are the best seats.

at the moment i have gone for seat 48a. this is the very last seat at the back of the plane.

the only reasons i have chosen this seat, is i get pissed off with people behind me tapping on the screen of the tv.

also there is only 2 seats instead of 3 at the back, and maybe the other seat will remain empty.

 

i can still change where i sit, so if you have a better idea, please let me know eh? :D

Shit. I was going to suggest behind whatever goal Arsenal are defending. :D

 

As for the aircraft, from what I recall, the area tends to get crowded with people queuing for the toilets and you get your scoff served last and have to make do with what's left. That said the little bit of extra width because of the shape of the aircraft should be welcome due to Emirates policy of sticking an extra seat in each row.

having travelled with Emirates many times , i always book the seats at the back of the plane ( where they become 2 seats). you will find that the extra room you have for the flight ( which is approx 13 hours in total - manchester-dubai-bangkok ) is well worth any negative points. very rarely are they qs for the toilet, always a steward(ess) going to the galley so can easily get another drink.only drawback is when getting to bangkok you will be last off the plane so have to q at passport control.

I travel with Emirates all the time and Qs for the lavs are rare. Another plus point is....YOU don't have to Q for the lav :D

I also use Emirates all the time now, I have a gold card with them.

 

I always book 7C or 7H on their 777er's when travelling in Y, they are the furthest forward aisle seat of the row of three. The bulkhead only comes across the first two seats allowing unlimited legroom. You also get served first with the grub and is cleaned away first, will nearly always get you choice as well. For the 777-300 the same seats are 16C-16H or some aircraft configuration 17C-17H. It also gives you a head start for the race to the immigration queue, although not nearly as bad nowadays.

 

The only drawback with these seats are they are beside the bassinet seats, so you risk having some ankle biter playing up all flight. The bassinet seats are not bookable online, so if you keep checking the manage your booking on their website and the blue seat is taken, then you are guaranteed to have an ankle biter beside you, up to you then if you want to change seat. The seats are quite narrow and you sometimes get people bumping into your shoulder when you are seated. Toilets are also beside these seats.

 

The seat maps nearly always show a nearly empty aircraft but are always very busy. I think a lot of people from the Asian sub continent don't book their seat in advance. They are allocated their seat at the airport.

 

Just my take on things, I know a lot of people swear by the aft seats.

I concur, the 3-4-3 in the 777 means that anyone in an aisle seat gets nudged by anyone or anything moving along the plane.

 

The seats were not too bad but the aisles are very narrow..

 

The Airbus 330 they used on the Glasgow service for the first year and currently use out of Newcastle is a much more pleasant way to fly.

Emirates are due to start using A380s very soon on some legs so there may be a little more room than at present.

It has little to nothing to do with the aircraft and almost everything to do with how the airline outfits their aircraft, i.e., the number of seats, the type of seats, and how they are

arranged.

My experience :-

 

AIRBUS 330 2-4-2 seating, Boeing 777 3-4-3 seating and NARROWER aisles.

 

However, the cabin in the Airbus has a much more spacious feeling and is brighter.

Two different classes of aircraft. The A330 is comparable to the B767.

Personally, I've always felt the seats were narrower in the Airbus products, or, if not

narrower, placed closer together in the A330s and A340s I've flown.

 

Airbus doesn't currently make anything comparable to the B777. Well, there is the A340,

but that didn't work out well for Airbus.

The new B787 will be replacing the B767 and compete with the A330 and the smaller, yet to be built,

versions of the A350. The larger versions of the A350 will compete with the smaller versions of the B777.

The B777-300ER is a very large airplane and many airlines are using it to replace their aging B747-400s

as they don't need that many seats, but like the range and cost savings of the B777-300ER.

That is what I originally said, it is up to the airline as to how many seats and how they are arranged.

I've heard that Air France and KLM have also been known to squeeze 10 across on their 777-300ERs. Not sure

if that is true or not.

True KLM do, and AF in their version 2 and 3 777-300s.

A330 v B777

 

Both wide-body, both 2 engines, both 2 aisles, both HEAVY wake vortex category.

 

Seems very similar to me.

 

Look at seatguru and you will see that the Emirates 777 seats ARE narrower than those in the A330 although you get a little more legroom.
