I will be in Singapore for a few days later this year and wonder if anyone has stayed in any of the Fragrance Hotels. OK, they are in the Red Light area and are budget priced but there are a lot of them. Any thoughts on these or other hotel in the City please?

yip stayed in the Fragrance hotel group. There are in an area called gaylang and surrounded by short time brothels. These Brothels mostly cater for the chinese/asian market and are quite pricey (as well as not being very friendly looking). If i remember rightly it was "emerald" i stayed in.

The area also has various bars where the freelancers will hang out. (check out the corner bars at the top of the street). (oh and round the corner is a thai restuarant where the isaan ladies hang around)

The hotel itself is very clean and new. The reception/security is good and it is very good value for Singapore. If you travel light you can use the train system to get there but bear in mind the hotel is a good 10mins walk from the station.

I stayed at one of the Fragrance Hotels. It was clean and located right in the middle of the area. The only bad part was when the fire alarm went off at 3 or 4 in the morning. Other than that it was fine.

Oh,it's only USD 54 per night-a bargain in SIN.

Mongering is available about 150 yards away across the street at a few bars. And several good places to eat nearby also.Nice quiet setting.

Beautiful room,excellent bed and pillows.

Yes have stayed in two of them. Not all are in the red light district. But yes the ones in Geylang are very interesting.

Very very basic. you get a better room in Pattaya for 450 to 500B.

Lot of girls around Geylang. But the friendliest ones are from Thailand. Go to the Thai eateries at the beginning of the area...

I met this gem of a girl Fon from Chiang Rai in S'pore. Hung out with her for three days...I was staying at Swissotel Merchant on this trip... I asked her how much for LT. And guess what she said...... in true Thai style "up to you" When compelled to quote a figure she said 100 Sing Dollars. Also invited me to stay at her place in Chiang Rai etc..... Never got to do it. Now her number does not work...Another nugget lost....

Thanks to all of you. This has once again shown me what a great resource this board is. I have appreciated the comments and as I propose only to be in S for 3 nights, Geylang is is.
