BJ Resort Lodge, Soi # & Beach Road. 1000 baht & up. Good place, wifi, pool, excellent mangaement, clean, near beach ...

 

Shagwell Mansion, Soi Arunothai, lots of un, well run, cheaper ... back past thrid road, so nowhere near beach, but a godd group of bars around there.

In the 1,400 price range I would recommend the Residence Garden. For 1,450 at the FLB rate you will have a suite, air conditioning, two pools, a restaurant, guest friendly, it is on the baht bus route, good staff, in-room safe, guest friendly, with a laundry and 7/11 across the street.

 

I have stayed there for three trips now and will continue to on my next trip.

The Sabai Empress opened earlier this year and is located on the corner of Soi 1 and 2nd Rd. They are currently running a 50% discount so for 1250 you can have a new room with pool on the roof, lift, I believe they have in room safe, don't know about wifi but they have free use of a computer down in the lobby for guests.

I agree whole heartedly can't go passed the residence gardens, very guest friendly and priced right just booked for a month and this will be my third visit and for repeat business good rates are available.

Have to agree the Residence Garden is a great place to stay. As others have said it is guest friendly, large rooms, separate AC controls for the bedroom and main room. The in room safe is large enough to hold a large lap-top, camera, personal papers etc. Wireless inter-net, 2 pools, good restaurant on site. Plus there is a laundry, 7-11, massage, ATM all just across the street. Baht bus’s go by all night so no trouble getting to and from.

 

Also like the fact that you can arrange for an airport pick up so after a long flight no worries about your ride down. A friendly driver, clean cars and the fact that he works for the hotel he knows how to get there and it is in their best interest to get you to the hotel.

Why not try a condo - Dancewatchers has some really nice rooms in View Talay 6 for 1300 a night, excellent location,access to both Second Road and Beach Road from the building.
