Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

I don't think they're particularly cheap, since iTunes provides essentially no service in LOS, thereby reducing demand significantly.

I don't have one yet, but if I did it wouldn't matter to me if I couldn't download songs from I Tunes. You can still put ITunes on your computer and load up all your own music, either from CDs or other MP3s you have. And with all the pirate CDs in Thailand, why worry about whether or not you can pay for songs from Apple?

In any event, the things are neat simply for the Wi-Fi capacity. Browse the Web, check emails, etc. I think you can also download Skype onto the thing.

I don't know about the I pod touch, but i bought and i-phone 3g last year and not impressed, sure the i pod on it is great and some of the added features are nice but texting is fidley and it doesn't have basic features that are on other phones. So doubt I will be investing in anything they bring out in the future.

cannot comment on the cost as they seem to be about the same everywhere but you can add skype to the new version and with the last software update it added skype sms as well.

I saw on some mp3 site that Apple monitors prices all over the world and makes sure that they stay about the same.

Apple is generally good at this, keeping prices constant around the globe. I got an iphone, and i think it's great, my tastes may change, but for now it's a good all in one device for all i need-music,videos,internet,and phone and SMS.

To the OP, if you are trying to save a few dollars, i'm sure in Thailand you could find an ipod touch clone, made by some chinese company, and that would probably be cheaper on the pocketbook. I wouldn't risk that and would just purchase the apple version, your son will definitely love it  .
