Emergency Exit Seats

Recommended Posts

Hi all

When travelling short haul I have always opted for emergency exit seats as it allows for extra legroom and the possibility to avoid someone reclining their seat in to you.

However, I am now going to BKK in Feb '10 with Qatar who have personal TV in the back of the headrest in front. Obviously the emergency exit seats don't have TVs in the seats in front so I wonder if anyone knows if they have personal TV for these seats and if so how is it controlled and where is it located?

Thanks for any info.

I know on Eva Air the stewardess will bring the tv to your seat. It just plops into a hole in the right arm rest

and then gets plugged in. They will take them away 20-30 minutes before the plane lands..

A word of caution on those seats. The seat next to the window is not all that good as the emergency exit door protruds from the fuselage of the aircraft and prevents one from stretching their feet out in front of them, get the aisle seat if possible. Also because the trays are within the armrest you will be siting in a smaller space as your hips will be confined to the seat and cannotextend under the armrest, not a problem if your not a big guy.

It's also worth noting that the armrests in those rows are fixed, so even if you are the only pax in the row you cannot raise the arm rests and stretch out.

Not on the Eva flights I have been on.

The screen folds away into the seats.

Another disadvantage of these seats is that they keep an eye on how much you drink..They don't want a fat drunken Englishman trying to open the door in time of an emergency ( Or any other time really,,,hahaha) .everybody is different of course but I enjoy the experience every time I fly and like to hoover the wine..Although it has been a long time since I travelled cabbage class!!

Flying from SFO-BKK on the old 747 which they still use the

stewardess will bring the tv out for the emergency row seats, as well as for the row

that has no seats in front of it (i think row 21 or 22) in Economy Deluxe class.
