The old Chicago Stadium was one of the noisiest and ... well, best place to watch a game, seats almost vertical, on top of each other. United has carried on that tradition of noise and excitement. For all that, Chicago is a lousy hockey town, but there are seriously committed fans.

Just watched the highlights from Flyers/Habs game. The amazing hockey just keeps coming.

 

Loved the goal by Mike Richards. He drew out the goalie and got past him. He's sliding on his belly, no Habs players near him, looking at the puck and an empty net in front of him, so he get's up and puts it in. He had a great game.

 

We got a nice old school match up for the Final: Chicago vs Philly. No predictions from me, I'm just gonna enjoy it.

I wouldn't say the BEST two teams got in, but these teams have earned the trip for sure. I'd say that Philadelphia is coming off very competitive series, while Chicago had it relatively easier. But I'm not sure what that equates, so I'll be happy just to let the chips fall.

Teary-eyed johnnyk here.... MBL, the better team won, they played solid hockey with a plan. Still, I'm grateful to the Habs for giving it a great ride, really the story of the '10 playoffs so far.

I'm with the Hawks for the cup, not because Philly beat the Habs or they are a crummy team but I prefer the way the Hawks play.

I tuned out of the clutch-and-grab, neutral zone trap and highlight reels of fighting in the 80s. So, its been a comeback year for me, first time in donkey's years I've been excited by hockey.

Some knowledgeable fans here in this thread, keep it up guys!

That's how the Omni was in Atlanta,before the Flames departed town.If you weren't in the lower bowl no big deal because it felt as though you were looking straight down on the ice.But it was funny to see/hear the bubba's howl for hockey.I still have my Atlanta Flames t-shirt but of course,it's better suited for dusting as it's way too small.

Well into the second period, Game 1 and it's 4-4. This could be one hell of an entertaining series. Philly is "better", Chicago has some very tricky stuff up its collective sleeve, I'm impressed with the speed and head-manning of both.

Good game, solid action! First two were less than exciting but its a series now. Flyers are much much better than an 18th place team.

Bernie Parent brings back memories for me.... to 1963. He was the goalie for Rosemount Bombardiers the district in Montreal where I grew up. It was a Jr. B league and he was 17 years old. You just knew he was going to the show, he was that good.

Schultz was a goon and Larry Robinson kicked the shit out of him. Larry had another talent, too. He could play hockey.

Hawks are in tough. Flyers have the momentum. Good piece in the Toronto Star (thestar.com) today about Patrick Kane, MIA.

Hate to stay it but Pronger has been an absolute stud. Smythe Trophy is his if Flyers win and maybe even if they don't.

Nah, but they didn't almost come back, not really. This series could easily be over by now. It reminds me a LOT of the opening series, Sharks-Avalanche. San Jose was about 10 times better but the Avs won a couple of games and threatened in all the six. Philly is way, way better here. Chicago wins even one game out of the seven on a fluke, winning the Cup would take about 20 flukes. Sure it's possible, just really unlikely.

 

Game 1 was a TOTAL fluke, all round. But this is an inevitability here and now, and it set in about 10 minutes into the first period of Game 2. Chicago winning would just be proof that "anything can happen" and "that's why they play the game." Even as I write, she is waddling to the microphone stand.

 

Kane isn't MIA, he's shut down. And if Kane's nowhere around, what about Captain Toews, so intimidated he won't even go out to a press conference to speak for the team now -- refuses to LEAD for krighssake?

 

Pronger is unbelievable. His actual play is incredible, but I can't remember the last guy who had stats like that for time on ice and the goals-scored and goals-allowed ice time.

Not looking good for your "inevitability" there Joe. Chicago made some adjustments and shut down Pronger in game 5, and Dustin Byfuglien (hockey has the best names ) put two in the back of the net.

 

The mojo is swinging back and forth in this series. Which way will it swing in game 6?
