We've had lots of comments over the last year how England has been taken over by immigrants and their bone idle offspring and how they should all be repatriated, or worse. But I think mass immigration has it good points ....

Part 1 - So just how many Anglo-Saxon males will be in the England starting 11 versus USA.

Part 2 - How many Anglo-Saxons WAGs will be in the starting 11?

BTW, I've gone for 4 + 9. And no, you can't have 5 WAG votes for Ashley Cole. :D

How many "immigrants" were in the team that won in 66 ? Hmmmmm, sounds like the team has got worse since mass immigration!:P

Peter Bonetti was the offspring of immigrants.

I thought Gordon Banks was the goalkeeper?

I think that international sport is becoming a joke. The Germans have a Pole playing for them. The English have an Italian manager. The French are mostly African immigrants. I wouldn't take any pride in a Scottish team that had cheated by playing "Scots" with only tenuous links to Scotland. The Scottish manager is checking out players from everywhere to see if they have distant Scottish relatives  That's scraping the barrel.

I like this post.

Two Scots arguing about the England World cup team of 1966. I would never have believed it. :P

Gordon Banks was the goalie in the final. Don't remember Pete playing at all.

And the only people to score in the final, both played their football in London for thew same team - West Ham.

If the question was "How many Celts does it take.... ? " We'll never know !

Well, yes, since the 1984 Olympics and the Budd-weisenheimer. I agree that was pretty funny. Good thing England doesn't have an Olympics team and you can blame her on the bloody Brits!

Didn't Bonetti, famously turn his back on a high cross, instead of punching it clear, allowing Germany to equalize in the 1970 World Cup ?

That was the turning point- get it ? of the game and they went on to score two more. 4-2 to them in the end.

I saw him play at Wembley about 15 years ago, in a charity match, before Brentfords Play off final. He was like Wurzell Gummage- Bald on top, with long white hair and skinney as a rake. I would never have recognized him.

You'll have seen the joke email going round of the effects of global warming on the French national team.

As for England I don't care!

When I look at a Premiership game these days I count up the Englishmen in both teams and support whichever side has the most eligible to play for for England........ ie Paul Scholes don't count. Colour don't matter though. if they sing the anthem and put on the shirt I support 'em 100%

I think the England - and Brentfords teams, reflect the social divide in racial terms. Our player of the year was a coloured lad. Thing is, if he made a cock up while playing, he still got grief from the fans like everyone else. :D

It is the working class that plays and watches the game. The working class has mixed socially and sexually with immigrants, as is reflected in the national team.

How many of England's Cricketers, Rugby , or Tennis players are black ? They may be from S. Africa- so was Tony Gregg 40 years ago, but they are still white. They too, represent the people who play and watch them. Not 100% of course, but in the main.

I have to wonder how the average French person feels, when their national side turns out. Yes it's good when you win, but like Arsenal fans - and I know quite a few, would they prefer some of their true countrymen playing for them, even if it meant an inferior team ?

Having watched "Match of the Day" reruns from the 70's, when all the first division players had 'British' names, the games were just as entertaining.....

I know what Tom is getting at with this thread, but the whole world is on the move. Soon their will be no national identity in sport at all.

Away from Sport, we had the case of a 'German' doctor giving a patient 10 times the amount of drug they should have had. His name was something like Abu Habarni- not your usual German name, but German just the same.

I, quite deliberately, didn't mention black players, and opted for the anglo-saxon angle instead - all immigrants aren't black - it just makes it easier to point the finger at them.

As for tennis players, the top two British women are Elena Baltacha and Anne Keothavong. As for the guys, No 2 behind that miserable Celt, Andy Murray, is Alex Bogdanovic. Good old Anglo-Saxon names, you'll agree.

Rugby? All these guys have been capped for England ....

West Indian - Delon Armitage, Jeremy Guscott, Danny Cipriani, Paul Hull, Paul Sackey

Nigerian - Chris Oti, Andrew Harriman, Victor Ubogu, Ade Adebeyo, Steve Ojomoh, Ugo Monye, Topsy Ojo.

Ghanaian - Paul Sackey

New Zealanders - Riki Flutey, Mark Van Gisbergen, Lesley Vainikolo (Tongan- born), Dylan Hartley, Henry Paul

Malaysian - Rory and Tony Underwood

... and so on, and so on.

I wouldn't have much of a clue about cricket but would have thought that it was ripe for a bit of Asian influence. But, apparently not.

Just say I was reading between the lines as far as football players go.

I can tell you know nothing about cricket or you would have noticed that should have been Tony Gregg not David. I expected to get shopped for that mistake.

Tennis will have non Anglo Saxons at the top as long as it is too upper class for for the English riff raff to join the club. These new comers have not quite grasped their place in society yet. :D

Nasa Husein was captain of the England cricket team, a few years back. He made an appeal to the British Asian kids to aspire to play cricket for England. He got absolutely slated by British Asian society. They more or less told him to fuck off. If they were going to play international cricket, it would be for India or Pakistan.

Even I felt sorry for him. :allright Perhaps that is the answer to your question.

P.S

Why do so many West Indians have the name Campbell ? :D

Yes. That is what I have said many times to, Pastry. They may have been born and brought up in the UK, but they still see themselves as Indian or Pakistani.

A France v African nation final would be ludicrous. They should call it an African victory, even if France won.

I was dismayed that Inter Milan didn't have any Italians in it. Chelsea have more Italians.
