Totally incompetent from DARK CONTINENT

Recommended Posts

Joe,

Thanks for your comments. Putting down other people's sports/cultures as a means pumping up the greatness of your own smacks of bigotry, immaturity, arrogance and ignorance.

I 'aint putting any sport down. Show me where I have said American sport in inferior.

I am just pointing out that some of you lot in America, are sooooo happy to knock the English at any given opportunity. Sporting or otherwise.

You personally, in your bigotry. immaturity, arrogance and particularly ignorance want to separate the English from the other Brit's, so you can critisize the 'Brit''s in the World cup, while excluding the non English.

For example- "Scots, welsh and Irish and Celts are not Brit's ! "- Such ignorance is absolutely staggering. What you are inferring is, your comments are not anti British, only anti English. Or am I the only one to see it that way ?

In a previous post you said 'we' used to be so great- what happened ? Well we started to eat fast food and watch American TV- starting with I Love Lucy....... !

I have never said any American sport is inferior to those we play. What I have tried to point out- with little success, is that our sporting failings, have a much higher world profile than yours, because they have a much higher profile on the world stage- arena, call it what you like.

Football, Rugby and Cricket are world wide- your sports are not. That is a fact you can't argue with - can you ?

Yes I know Ice hockey is an international sport. I have handled the Canadian teams hockey sticks and huge trunks of equipment on many occasions at Heathrow. I can't remember however, receiving them from any more than two countries Russia or Scandinavia. By comparison, on one occasion we had the England Football team claiming their Baggage from Australia on Belt 2 and Scotland's team claiming theirs simultaniously from Halifax N.S on belt 1. I know Scotland isn't in Britain, but I thought it a coincidence at the time.

I don't mind and am used to, Banter between the other Brit's about our sporting ups and downs. It is the same for all of us. Same sports, same wins, same losses. Same goes for the Aussies about rugby and cricket, our greatest compediters in the sport with the same chance to win or lose on the same pitch together.

Io do get the hump when an American starts to crow about England's shortcomings in football.

joe k has never done this, he just reacts to my posts as a slur on his sports. A slur that does not exist.

Get used to it on an international forum, or get pixxy and worse. It's up to you to catch up, not the others to wait while you do.

But the fact is I have shown NOTHING but respect for all sports, all the time, not least because I enjoy all sports - just some more than others, like everyone. You will search in vain for criticism of a sport from me, which is why you didn't quote me on it. Right?

That would be five countries, actually. Which is still a pretty small selection of hockey-playing countries but at least greater than "England and Scotland which isn't part of Britain".

Okay, I went out and asked a cross section of the world about it, an Indian, a Filipino, an Aruban, a Venezuelan, a Canadian, a Japanese, a Fijian, a Ghanaian and an Italian - in their own countries.

Is it OK to chuckle out loud for that one? :P

Dunno about the Americans being the stars of the group play??

I meant only in the heart-attack, last-minute sense, not in football excellence. I'm not hurt if you guffaw, anyhow. But the England game was not bad, and the other two were both last-second action that you don't often see.

Good to see the enthusiasm of the US team at the end. Good to hear the comments of the fans reacting to a 1.0 win. Have to eat my words in some respects.

Well done USA.

Let's talk about the current Fed qualifiers-seldom a win-thanks for showing that. And the previous federations, likewise,a rare win.And yes,I AM fully aware of all the US results without having to do a search every time like you.And also the once/twice in a lifetime results by other countries.Hope you're enjoying your soccer search exercises.

Ooops! :D :drunk

There go those pesky Japanese joining Korea in the knockout stages. :beer

Please,go back and regale us with total number of victories from either team in previous WC after your search. Not counting those on home soil,as I mentioned.

No need to search for anything. Your 'claim' was:

"But unlike Australia's group, other teams from our group have actually qualified for the WC."

Just pointing out that not only did Korea and Japan both qualify from Australia's group, but they are doing pretty well so far. :drunk

What airlines do Japan and South Korea use to get to South Africa?

Yes I know they were in a more difficult Federation previously and lobbied to change so they could actually qualify.

Did you enjoy the exercise?

No, it was an easier group. Ludicrously so. Go google some of the results.

The catch was, after playing such football powerhouses as the Solomon Islands and Fiji, qualification came down to one home-and-away series against either a South American or "Asian" team of full-time professionals.

Which makes the Kiwis' efforts all the more repectable.

For the previous few world cups Australia had to play in Oceania and playNZ, fiji etc to win the right to play, i think it was the 5th ranked South American team which was just crazy.

Aust lobbied to get into the Asian group which makes sense.

NZ won Oceania this time then had to play Bahrain from the Asian group qualify which they did.

The kiwis have done a bloody good job ever since then.
