Google Chrome on www.pattayatalk.com

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else having difficulty with Google Chrome interfacing with the www.pattayatalk.com website.

It used to work perfectly but has recently started to hang when photographs are encountered.

It displays some, but I think that the software on the www.pattayatalk.com website that re-sizes photographs is affecting it.

Any help or advice would be welcomed. PS IE8 works OK but in inherently slower so I prefer Chrome.

My Safari browser on my Mac used to do that, then, with one of the updates, it was fixed. Why not switch browsers for a while until they work out the bugs?

I use Chrome about half the time, never had a slight hitch. Make sure it's updated, and clear the cache. Click the wrench, then Under the Hood, then Clear Browsing Data. In this case, I would restart the browser after the cache is cleared, for a clear start.

Never any problems with firefox

Oh, lord, the mandatory sermon from the pulpit. What, no advertisement for Linux?

I have never had any problems with Internet Exploder on this forum either, in addition to Chrome, Opera and SlimBrowser. Or Firefox, a perfectly good mid-level browser.

Where did I mention Linux? Never used it I'm a Windows 7 machine

I just prefer to use Firefox for most things. But I do use Chrome mainly for Betfair and Facebook

Thank you all for your advice.

I have followed Joekikkers advice and cleared the catch and restarted Chrome from scratch but the problem is still there.

An example page is http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49355 where the page begins to load, I see the top half of an oversize photograph and then Chrome hangs.

I eventually get this message:

Pattayatalk_Error.JPG

I can use other browsers but have a preference for Chrome, and the only site affected is this one.

Any help will be appreciated.

No problems with any pages here. I tried that page in three browsers, heck, even Firefox loaded fine. [duck!]

More proof, if any were needed, that the machines are out to get us.

It does sound like maybe a memory problem your end, maybe the graphics card. Make sure you're not maxing out available RAM, especially virtual (disk-based) memory. It could be that your graphics card on your main chip (am I right about that?) hasn't got enough working space to load, store and show the big photos. You can probably give it more virtual working room by increasing the size of your virtual RAM.

Which also begs the question of why people send big pix, but that's another thread, I guess.

There is a very similar site, that is currently Secret, but contains similar content and photographs that I can get to without any problems. Loads OK and even oversize pictures are reduced correctly.

Looks as if I shall have to revert to a different browser for this site.

That's because you're from Birmingham or thereabouts. Don't even bother to open these technical threads. It will make your head spin.

Clearing the cache would have freed up enough Memory to load the pages here even with big pics.

Try de-installing Chrome and re-installing it. Maybe one of the updates installed wrong and caused a glitch in the program.

  • 3 weeks later...

I use Win 7 Pro and Chrome crashes on a regular basis. I uninstall and reinstall and that has never helped. IE and Firefox have no problems.

The Chrome crashes are random and happen on most web sites. I do like Chrome and am still waiting for a fix.

Really weird. In two years or so, I've never had Chrome crash. In fact, it's designed NOT to crash the whole thing, but just one tab will crash. Diff'rent strokes and all.

I get the same window as Severn posted above. Click on kill pages and Chrome closes.
