I got a txt from my mate, telling me that England want a hero's welcome, so they are landing at Glasgow airport ! :allright

That's not funny ! I'll spit in his beer tonight. :D

They'd be cheered if they landed at Berlin. Some of them are so thick and useless they would probably believe they are a good team.

Well your'e a poor judge, he might of had a poor competition but he's in the top handful of players in the world.

If Man United offered him up for sale for 80Million every club in the world that could afford him would put in a bid.

Maybe but he's past his sell-by date. He'll be a massive drunk after he retires, Gascoigne #2.

You should ask why she spells her name J-A-N-I-E. It's nothing to do with transliteration - she was born in the US and Janie is her name, no matter what you or Ning thinks. :D

JFC, I haven't seen her friggin' birth certificate! I haven't personally met her and gotten her autograph! I'm just going by the sound made by Thai people when they say her name, and the way it is spelled on the internet.

Here's a small sampling of the internet evidence:

. . . but of course all these are wrong and Tom is right. :D

I would happily accept that her legal written name is "Janie" and it's just a matter of confused translation, if only you'd produce some evidence. All you've done is smugly puffed out your chest and said, "Everyone else is wrong and I'm right!"

Vic, It would be a small sampling - you and 20-odd others. :allright

We've been down this road before you threw your teddy in the corner.

The alternative is Vic and his 20-odd mates are right and tens of thousands are wrong. Wasn't your previous argument that they were actually two different people and I was being condescending to suggest otherwise? :D

Cute girl. FWIW I pulled up the Google page with her pics as shown and asked my TG her name. She said "Jenny". I asked her to spell it and she replied "J-A-N-I-E....Jenny".

No. I can't get worked up about Chelsea nowadays. When I was a kid they were one of my favourite teams in the days of Cooke, Osgood, Harris, Bonetti, Hudson, Webb and McCreadie but there's not a lot to enthuse about the current mob. I don't know if it's because of Ballack - reminds me too much of that arrogant little shit, Lothar Matthaus.

When I lived in Germany we had a "Brit" fanclub and used to arrange buses to as many games as possible irrespective of the team involved - we even managed to watch Hearts in Hamburg and Munich. :D If there were no Brit teams in action, it was then a case of watching Keegan playing for Hamburg or Woodcock playing for Köln and eventually Paul Lambert playing for Dortmund.

As an aside, I see Hodgson has gone to Liverpool. I think it will take a bit longer than the two years they've given him to sort out their problems.

Those were the days at Chelsea alright- Chopper Harris ! :D Charlie Cook was one of the best ball controllers I have ever seen. He would beat a defender, then go back and beat him again !

Didn't Tony Hatley join about then ? I remember one rainy Tuesday night at the old Bridge, when 'The Shed' was just that. Hately was doing his goal hanging thing and missed a sitter against Benfica or some foreign team. We were among the opposition fans, who jeered him. A London voice rang out " Shut up you lot ! We can jeer- we paid for him."

Gordon Banks was the other goalkeeper one night. The crowd were singing " Bonnetti's twice as good as Banks, Halalluja....... "

It was altogether different then. You could listen to a Game on the radio, without knowing the team, but still know when the British team had the ball when the commentator said their names.

I am disappointed Roy has gone north. The fans have lost a hero at The Cottage. While at the same time, a long serving Liverpool man, Kenny Dalglish, is so disappointed with the decision, he may cut all contact with the club- what's going on ?

Who was the last Englishman to manage 'pool ?

The hugely successful Roy Evans was their last English manager. Although Dalglish never won a European trophy with them, his WDL record is second to none. I think Dalglish put himself up for the job, so if he's been overlooked in favour of Hodgson he doesn't really have much choice other than to cut his ties with the club.

Just read on the wire that Man City have bought David Silva.

As the great John Wayne once said, "When you make a mistake you have to do 3 things: Admit it, accept it, and get on with life."

I went back and looked at the Soccer Sucks thread. The links you posted that show her name as "Janie" were posted after I stopped reading the thread, so I didn't see them until just a few minutes ago. Looks like she is known by both names.

You're right, I'm wrong.

As I may have said before.....Chopper Harris when asked how his side would fair against the present Chelsea team he said 'We'd win 1. 0' When asked why only 1.0.? He said, 'Well we're all in our sixties now!'
