The girls backed Spain, because the octopus said so. Most of soccer-mad Thailand put money on Spain, because the octopus is always right. The octopus predicted the winning team of all six Germans games at the World cup correctly. It had nothing to do with us Germans being ugly bastards. Go to any bar in Naklua and the girls will tell you they dislike the English guys. Go to a bar where there are mainly English speakers the girls will say the opposite. If you really want to know where the best-looking guys come from, ask the girls to consult the octopus.

Spain cheated as well. The fielded seven players from Barcelona. They are Catalans and not Spanish. Ask a person from Madrid what they think about Catalans. The are held in the same regard as the Basques, as they want independence from Spain.

I know how frustrating it is to be runner-up. We managed to be runner-up four times in the last 16 World cups and your team only had to endure such agony twice in 1974 and 1978. If your team looses next Sunday it will still only be your third time of loosing in a World cup final, which is still better than having lost it for a fourth time. Playing for third place and loosing is not as bad, as hardly anyone takes any notice.

Funny you should say that. Didn't Germany have a Bavarian manager and players a while back, that the rest of Germany refused to support ?

 

I was on a fishing trip many years ago out from Pattaya. The bar boss whose birthday it was, was German speaking- Austrian.

Queen's visit catches Puyol off-guard

After Spain's 1-0 triumph over Germany in the World Cup semi-finals, Queen Dona Sofia popped by the Spanish dressing room for a post-match visit.

 

Caught slightly off-guard, most of the players were either half-dressed or still in their kits as shoes and water bottles were strewn all over the floor as they stood and clapped to welcome their Queen.

 

Goal-scoring hero Carles Puyol was particularly unfortunate as he was spotted in only his towel covering his modesty. He then bravely stepped forward to shake the Queen's hand before running for cover behind his team-mates who all had a good laugh at his expense.

 

The Queen told the players how proud "todo Espana" is of them, and that they were "Marvilloso."
