DVD Player in the Hotel Room

Recommended Posts

I actually purchased a 900 baht one about 2 years ago it sits in my suitcase and never comes out until im in thailand. Takes 1 minute to set up and then when i want to spend 90 minutes by myself to recharge the batteries i can watch a good movie rather than flicking through 60 channels of crap on Sophon.

1. If it can operate with batteries you can watch a movie on the plane.

2. If you have a 2 hour wait between connections you can plug it in and watch a movie.

I think we've switched the discussion to a different kind of DVD player. You don't buy those for 700 baht in Big C. And I can actually grok that kind. We started talking about the ones you plug into TV sets and don't have a screen.

I checked the latest Big C promotions and for 595 baht they have a DVD player that also accepts USB video and comes with 2 speakers.

If you have a single region portable (or standard) DVD player to be used in LOS that runs on 220V (to include U.S. dual voltage players) you can usually hack it to play all regions.

Here is a URL that provides hacks for many popular DVD players.

Prior to my first mp4 player I always brought 8" portable DVD player (that was hacked using the above URL) to LOS if for no other reason than I had access to entertainment for the flight between Tokyo and Bangkok which didn't have in-seat IFE. Additionally since the player has RCA output, when there was a little "in country downtime" to fill I could watch a movie if there wasn't anything of interest on the local cable.

I'd much rather watch the world go by on the street that watch TV. Do we really need to be entertained electronically all the time?

I kinda like the Thai soaps they're always good for a laugh. You don't need to even have the sound on. You can deduce what's going on. Even the tg's don't need the sound. Look at the girls staring at the TV's in the bars with the sound turned down.

Oh good, finally. I've been waiting for someone to explain why you've bought one of those to carry it to Thailand for one week in a Pattaya hotel room. I can't think of a reason why, and the OP seems to have taken all the info given to him and absconded. So why would you? I mean EVEN if it has 220V unlike most US players and EVEN if it connects to PAL TVs in Thailand unlike many US players - why did you (or why would you) take it for one week in Pattaya?

Sorry Joe, but I would appreciate it if you would quote where I said I had taken a dvd on a 1 week stay?

Nah. Still waiting for you to quote me saying it's flat impossible to get universal voltage in the US.
