When booked as a package your luggage should be automatically transferred but best to check with the airline or booking agency mate

Lucky B-------D Villa ! but its ok I will be heading that way in 8weeks from today so its ok for you to enjoy yourself and let us know you are going!! lol Seriously have a good time (sure you dont need me to tell you that) As for the airline I would be checking with the first checkin as they have the answer there as to wether or not the bags will go direct.

Similar question from US traveller from US via TPE,changing carriers. He rang originating carrier to verify and they said yes.Always good to make a call and have the agent you speak with put a note in your record (PNR).

Imagine having to visit Pook Bar in your flying clothes.

I would certainly be checking Villa, some airlines have checking through agreements with each other some do not. Many are not from the same alliance, Oneworld and Star Alliance etc but check through.

If you look up the website of your first flight, they should have somewhere on the site what airlines they have checking through agreements with, failing that you could ring them, on the phone I mean. :chogdee

Enjoy your trip. :banana

villa, if I was you I would check before you travel, 1hr 5 minutes will not be enough time if you have to mess around with luggage on the way home.

I would consider just taking a carry on if KLM do not have check through with China Airlines.

If you booked through a travel agent ring them and get them to chyeck it out for you, they may know the answer anyway. If your ticket was done as a combined flight I would think there will be no worries with you baggage. If you booked yourself as two different flights I think you may struggle unless the airlines have that check through agreement, many do though.

KLM and China are partners, i have flown on that route, be it from newcastle to amsterdam on klm and onward with china, bags were checked all the way through.

Same same but from Cardiff. Done it about three times I think, check in at Cardiff with KLM, collect luggage in BKK from the China Airlines flight. Don't worry son, you'll be ok. I can see I'm going to be nursing you all trip Villa. :behead

Biggest factor seems to be are the flights on the one 'ticket' then it is a 'package' and with the short transit on your return leg it should not have been issued if baggage does not have enough time to transit the airport - never mind not being checked through!

Thanks for looking after me guys :( anyway i have decided to take a case and a carry on as my layover is four hours on the way there so no worrys . I will leave my case at the Drunken Duck and have TTT do my laundry before i arrive next trip(will only cost me a fruit and nut and a bag of cheese and onion  ). That way i will never have to check in luggage again and just bring a carry on for future trips
