Anyone coming from the USA in the next couple weeks?

Recommended Posts

I have seasonal allergies, and they are kicking my ass something fierce.

I need someone thats coming over soon to bring me a huge bottle of Benadryl, if possible. Or even the walmart generic version. They come in bottles of 100 25mg caplets... One would be good, 2 would be better (understand if you dont want to carry 2 tho).

If anyone is coming soon and doesn't mind, PLEASE let me know. Will reimburse you and buy ya several drinks for your trouble. You will be saving my life! (or at least easing it considerably).

And before anyone asks, no you can not get it here, and the last 3 brands I have bought here are having no effect whatsoever. Been on the latest one (spendy bugger at 500 baht for 10 days) for 3 days now, and just spent the last 3 hours sneezing my ass off. Benadryl puts me to sleep, but at least it works.

I can even order them online and send them to you, if theres time - but they are not expensive - less than $10 for the bottle of 100 if I remember right... but willing to pay whatever they are now.

TIA,

Frosty

Not coming for a few weeks but had a quick look to see if I could help in the future (but was also interested why you needed someone from the USA). Anyway I found that -

  • In the United States and Canada, Benadryl products contain the first-generation antihistamine diphenhydramine.
  • In the United Kingdom, Benadryl products contain either the second-generation non-sedating antihistamine acrivastine (marketed as Benadryl Allergy Relief, with a suggested efficacy duration of eight hours) or the non-sedating antihistamine cetirizine (marketed as Benadryl One a Day Relief).

I guess the reason you need the USA product is that the non-USA ones don't work for you. Have you tried to get diphenhydramine locally?

Glyn.

Got it handled all... Thanks for the replies!

Glyn, I actually did not know that.... Either piece of it.

I have tried to find it here, but no go. The latest thing I tried was something called psuedoephedrine sulphate - at 500 baht for 10 pills. The last 2 (actifed and something else) did not work. Friggin crazy.

Its only for a couple months of the year... but i dont remember it being this bad last year. Tho that might have something to do with just running out of meds lol.

BTW to the original poster you can get cetirizine in Thailand under the name brand Zyrtec. When it was still $2.50 a pill here in the US I would pick it up there for 120 baht per 10, not super-cheap but a lot better than the prices here.

I'll be in Pattaya on the 21st if you haven't gotten someone to hook you up.

Didn't know you could get pseudoephedrine there. You can use it to make yabba or meth and it's pretty controlled. Mostly for stuffy nose - a decongestant rather than an antihistamine.

Have you tried to get it using the chemical name not the brand name? I would have thought it must be sold in Thailand under a local brand name in a reputable pharmacy.

Tried to PM you but PM is not working for me or at least the messages don't show up in my saved messages. Picked up a big bottle super-cheap at CostCo for you, if you still need them please get in touch or I will leave them at FLB bar with Martin for you or in case some other local expat needs them.
