Multiple home Breakins on darkside

Recommended Posts

My village "Raviporn" on koh Noi has a breakin every other night. If and when the police arrive they dont take any fingerprints just log and leave. The robbers dont care if we are in or out and they are armed, its scarey. Every house has been done at least once.

Exactly why I won't stay in the cheap villages on the darkside.

Living out here is perfectly safe if you do so in a village that has a gate (only one entrance) and full time security. Nobody (not even residents) can get in to my place unless the guard opens the gate.

Scary that you was home and they was armed.

Ive lived in Khao Noi for the past 3 yrs and I have not heard of any break ins in the villages I have rented in, maybe the security does work.

Never heard of any break ins ??? :D

So can you tell me why most villas in this area have big walls, big gates,

grids on windows, alarms and even sometimes camera and night lightning ?

It's one of bigs problems to have a house in Pattaya...

And if Security can help, it's not a full waranty it will not happend:

see recent break-in cases in a Jomtien "luxe" village. :chogdee

Hi,.

No break ins so why set up security etc.. Idefix, You have answered your own question, even if you did not know it. This is why they have bars on windows etc. and it works. So if you lived in a area and your neighbours said they have had no break ins because of this, you would not put some security on your property. The mind boggles. Still each to his own.

Sorry but my logic is different. I have been living before in France in a big village where there was no break-in; never. So nobody there needed to transform is house in a prison ! Many people not even locked their door when they went in town for a short time, for the market by example.

If here in Pattaya people put grids everywhere it's because of many break-in, yes !

And grids is not a so good solution because in many cases

burglars enter now in the house through the roof which has nearly alway no defense

and is a relatively easy access for a young guy.

It’s silly to think that burglary only happens in Pattaya as it happens all over Thailand, it’s just that there are richer pickings in places like Pattaya which has many farangs.

The thieving fcks also know that the BIB are not very good at catching people which makes the chances of being caught slim to none.

Security guards attached to mafia groups have been known to be to be placed in estate security companies which doesn’t help.

but what happens if you shoot the theif ?

do you get thrown in the monkey house and worse a vendetta against you , as a farang ?

Are you licensed to have a firearm in the first place ?

I was talking to some darkside residents recently in the pub who had also been subjected to a spate of burglaries in their village. One had 'obtained' a gun in his Thai wife's name, and since, he had not had a problem. I was told he could have got it in his name, but easier for a Thai. As to how the police would react to you shooting dead one on your premises, well I think they would love you to pay them compensation. I might be tempted to move house after that!

I've seen you out in the gogos at a latish hour, but you must be an early riser.

Well I live well out of town and when I do not partake of fun, I go to bed early.

The mornings are so pleasant I like to be up to enjoy them, as you appear to.

I must be going native..... :clueless

So, if I see you at Babydolls or Champion of a night, can I assume you'll not be posting at the crack of dawn the next day?

I've had a few nights the last weeks, hanging with the vampire crowd till the sun comes up...this was one of them.

I know to go home when I see the monks out. :thumbup

You can go to the bank on it.... but I nevertheless manage to be up and about by 8am.

But sometimes even then, if I wake with a hangover, I hate to lie there suffering and head for the coffee machine. I have always been a light sleeper.

Often I get up when the chanting of the monks disturbs me...... :clueless

"Nobody (not even residents) can get in to my place unless the guard opens the gate. "

And this gives you peace of mind? Given their low pay I would not put it past security guards to be tipping off burglars and helping when they can.

Hi, idefix.

I come from a place where you could have left your keys in you car and done a lot of other things. Plus left your house door open, this was in the 1950's. U WOULD NOT DO IT NOW. But to not take precautions, I do not mean turning your home into a prison. is silly.

I have lived in LOS for six years now, in my home, and have never been broken into. Maybe it is the big fence. security bars on windows, or the big rot. that i have. But it works, as with most contries now.

The funny thing is, in all my life, the only place i have lived in, and had a break in, was in a small village in the north of France.

Touch wood i have never had a burgalry, and i have stayed in 1 condo,2 1 story houses and a 2 story house, and none on private estates.
Yes, touch wood!

I am looking at new windows and doors now and an upgrade of my alarm system......

The old extruded aluminium windows are a security joke and I don't fancy bars in the slightest, I would move out of town (or into a condo) before I did that.

A dog seem to work but I don't like them..... like having a kid.

So far little incidence, but there was an attempt to get over a neighbour's wall very recently.

Many houses built around are an utter and complete security joke. Roof tiles that can be pushed back and break through a false ceiling, sliding windows that can be lifted out of their track, and doors with wooden panels that can be punched out.

The security grills over windows are often fitted with the removal screws easily undone.

That and a security man who spends most of the time sleeping and likes to make an extra few quid by calling some friends when you go on a road trip.
