Hi Villa,

I, too have been taking a look at the Lumix range of cameras having lost my TZ5 the other night (left it in the back of a taxi) :crying:

Here is a link to an excellent video review from cameralabs.com

There is a very similar model, the TZ9, which does not have the GPS function that the TZ10 has, and it's about £30-40 cheaper than the TZ10. The TZ9 is available mainly through Currys, Dixons and Pixmania.

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/panasonic-lum...833933-pdt.html

I think I would opt for the TZ9 at around £199 as I don't want the GPS function that the TZ10 features.(The TZ10 is around £249 but there is a £30 cash back offer until mid January)

I was certainly very pleased with the Lumix TZ5 that I had until very recentley, and the quality of the pictures taken have featured on this forum on my last TR !

Go for it mate ! :sorry

I have the TZ9 - i used it in pattaya for 32 days and when i got home stopped working with focus error - replaced at airport 9 days later

has 12* optical zoom - any zoom degrades quality alot

shutter was stuck for a few days but managed to start working again - shutter seems a bit fragile

screen display scratches easily

its pretty bulky for a snappy cam

pic size is about 4.5 meg

easy to operate but this camera for the price isn't that good unless all £250 cameras are crap too

Bought one a couple of months back. Excellent results, though I haven't really used it in anger yet. Has far more settings than I'll ever use, I think that "intelligent auto" will see most use. Videos in low light look OK (for a still camera), so should be good for bars.

  • 1 month later...

I'm still looking for a digital super zoom camera since losing my Panasonic Lumix TZ5, and like the OP, was seeking a replacement.

Noticed the other day that Panasonic has announced the Lumix TZ20 and TZ18, both 14.1 Mega Pixel, featuring 16 x Zoom lenses, and very impressive HD Movie capablities. GPS/Non GPS.

Link here http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasoni...0/verdict.shtml

The TZ20 looks set to retail at around £350, the TZ18, with not so many bells and whistles a bit less, and AFAIK both will be available in March this year. Hopefully that price will reduce in a fairly short time

I believe the upshot of this new model's development will give rise to some pretty good deals on the soon to be obsolescent(?) Lumix TZ10 range(Currently priced at around £200-£230). I dunno..... maybe get one for £150-£200 :clueless

Will wait and see what transpires :lsmile
