In The Days Before The Internet.....

Recommended Posts

Although we all love having the convenience and flexibility the internet offers us, is there anything you miss from the pre-web days?

I used to do some work, having the odd tea break and such. Now I surf the net having the odd work break. Also read a lot less books now before the internet i use to average at least one a week. Also used to love spending a couple of hours in the bookies browsing the football coupons now do the majority of my betting online

It's also quite difficult to avoid knowing every little detail about big upcoming films these days - is much better going in with just an inkling of what it's about.

also the slow death of the pub quiz due to furtive googling

Also, all my holidays are booked online. I used to like going into the travel agents on the High Street or whatever and doing this, it all seemed like part of the holiday package.

Depite having access to the internet at work from about 1997 or so it want til about 2004 that i got into it at home. Wouldnt know what to do without the internet now '.

What do you miss (if anything)?

E-mail at work (not precisely the same thing as the internet but close enough) is a very mixed blessing. It's convenient, but it's continually interrupting my train of thought and has destroyed by attention span. And the BlackBerry has to be the spawn of Satan.

I have gone through two blackberrys and have just gone back to a normal $30 nokia , at first receiving emails on the blackberry was fantastic for work but eventually it was dictating my life, the little redlight would come on late on a friday night id read the email and get stressed about a situation that i had little or no control over and could of easily waited until Monday etc
