Have I been missing out or did something change recently with regard to bank ATM fees?

Last night, I needed to use an ATM with my Kasikorn ATM card.

The nearest ATM belonged to TMB (Thai Military Bank), and I was in a hurry, so didn't walk the extra 2 minutes to go to a Kasikorn ATM.

I made two withdrawal transactions of 20K baht each, and each one had no service charge.

Normally, the charge for using another bank's ATM varies between 20 and 35 baht for each withdrawal.

Is this a new thing, or something TMB has been doing, or some fluke of their computer systems?

Incidentally, the last time I was in BKK, I used a Kasikorn ATM, and they (my own f...ing bank) charged me 15 baht because I wasn't in the area my bank branch is based.

NEWSFLASH....Save 20 Baht everytime you withdraw 20,000 Baht...C'mon Martin you can do better than that!

Okay, let's not scoff at that. If I withdraw 120,000 THB, I save 120 baht, enough for a lady drink in many gogos.

They changed last month under government pressure you are now allowed to use other banks ATM's 4 times per month without charge. There was an article about it on Thaivisa.com a while ago.

Thanks for clearing that up. thumbup.gif

I didnt know that but just tried Krungsri atm(my bank is Siam) and yes you are right. Thanks for that info will save me looking for SCB atms in future and leave me more time for drinking. Not tight fisted but just hate giving banks any more than they already steal.Lost £25,000 in a bank collapse 3 years ago.Hate them all with a vengeance.

Now now, 80,000 baht might get a few of us expats through the shorter months. :whistling:

Are the banks still charging 150bt for international withdrawals?(except Aeon)

I believe so, doubt they will stop this lucrative earner that doesn't upset any locals. Edited by jacko

One is in carrefour but rarely works although they have renewed it so its not so bad,but the other day i did see a Thai man get his card eaten by it and was on the phone to the bank complaining.

There are 2 in north Pattaya Tesco but everytime i have been there they were shut.

The only one that seems reliable is the atm outside Homeworks in south Pattaya. Its so old that you cant see the screen very well but it has been working evertime ive been there.

Quite right and thanks for the update on the Tesco ones.

When I go to Homeworks I take the umbrella out of the truck. :D

I wouldn't risk the one in Carrefour, US on Tuesday again.
