Hi, I'm new to this forum and an advid salsa dancer.  This is just a shot in the dark, but does anyone know if there are any salsa clubs in Pattaya or nearby Pattaya.

Hi Bkboiler,

I'm not aware of any Salsa Dance Clubs in Pattaya. However, when you come to Thailand, and I'm assuming you're coming through Bangkok to Pattaya, you may want to  check out or call the following clubs there in Bangkok. They could possibly steer you in the right direction in Pattaya.

These are the ones I'm aware of in Bangkok:

El Niño

The Salsa Club

Casa Salsa

Bar Latino Bangkok

La Fiesta

Baila Baila

Señor Pico's

Sorry no phone numbers but I'm sure you can find them in the phone book. Good Luck.

Will be off to Thailand in. . .

8 day 4 hrs 9 mins and 37 secs and Wheels-Up and off to LOS. . . but Who's counting!

Regards,

Unfortunately, Thais prefer a very limited variety of music.  They are:

Techno-dance (You can't say that you've lived until you listen to the 10 minute techno version of Jingle Bells.  I kid you not.)

70s, 80s rock (You'll hear, and tire of hearing, Hotel California since it's played several times each night.)

Isaan traditional music.  Not bad, just sounds strange.  The girls love it.

All music is played at deafening levels (bring ear plugs for use in discos).

Discos.  Another subject.  They're different.  The best in Pattaya is XZyte.  They put on a really outstanding song and dance show.  There's no central dance area.  You simply dance at your table.  Bring a date.

BBK, being a large city, has more music variety than Pattaya.

Try Moon River at the Thai Garden Resort, a few hundred meters up North Pattaya road from the Dusit/Dolphin roundabout.

Don't know if it's a coincident but the bands playing there normally always do quite a bit Salsa/Latino stuff.

But of course, the traditional Thai/Farang dance, The Horizontal jig a jig, is practiced everywhere  ;D ;D ;D

As we all know, dancing is a vertical expression of a horizontal desire! ;D [smiley=boom.gif] ;D
