Has anyone else financed their missus through one of these schools or do you have a friend, tirac or wife who has done the course?

 

Mine has just about finished this years course but we paid a wee bit more up front so she could return on the next course to catch up on bits she missed this year due to taking time off when I come back from an offshore stint, bike club tours etc etc.... not a problem.

 

During the year there is the expected outlay for equipment she needed to have to carry on with new course agenda.... not a problem.... but the final "cough-up" fee is sticking in my craw: 5,500 baht for the Graduation Ceremony Certificate! Is this normal? Does every graduation student in Thailand have to pay such an exorbitant fee for their hard won certificate? Or am I just another F'rang being ripped off?

There's always a fee, but that's pretty high. I'd be flabbergasted if it has anything to do with your pastiness. That's an all-Thai business. On that, you're undoubtedly paranoid.

"Pastiness"...... please explain your use here as I just don't understand what the fuck you are talking about, but taking into account most other board members reactions to you then it's probably for the better. Me being paranoid? You don't know me and I have never, in my 22 years here, come across you so how on earth do you come to this conclusion? Or is it one of your usual sweeping generalizations that you seem to love using on those you perceive as lesser mortals who don't have the wisdom of your experience in Thailand. Pray tell.

Joe knows everything. Just mention something. I paid for two years and there was a small fee for the diploma but around 300 baht if I remember correctly. It paled (pastiness) in comparison to the two beauty salons that followed.

You suggested being a farang ripped off and I interpreted pastiness as an adjective for being white, e.g. a farang which was your very concern. So he was saying it's high but it's Thais ripping off Thais not you per se.
