Carrying Astro doesn't guarantee the venue will be open for the game or that it will be on display.

To the OP, I'd suggest you drop by some large sports bar, like Shenanigans to see what their plans are. The lateness (or earliness) of the hour, and the relative lack of die hard fans at that hour, might preclude many places from making special arrangements for that game.

Now the 49rs Saints game might be a different matter.

I plan to replay it Sunday night if the 49rs win. If they lose, I might put on Mr. Bean.

During the 49rs-Saints game, I took a nap at half-time, and didn't wake up until the beginning of the 4th quarter. I didn't know the score until well into the 4th, because Fox (or NFL Game Pass) wasn't inserting the score/time/downs legend on the screen at all. The only clues to the score were the commentators, and they were jabbering so much I never did figure out the score, or most importantly, the difference in score.

By the time the game was down to 9 seconds left, and the 9rs scored, I actually though they were 2 points behind and had to do a 2 point conversion. When they kicked for the extra point, I was flabbergasted.

Yet, the smiles all around on the 49rs sidelines and the crowd was making me think that maybe I'd missed something...it wasn't until the game was over that they showed the damned score, and the 4 point lead the 9rs had.

Yes, it was a very confusing morning for me.

Did they show the score legend on screen frequently (or at all) during the USA broadcast? For those of us who have to stay up all night to watch the game, with the occasional nap, it's a real boon.

I watched the last 3 minutes of that SF-NO game again...what a cliff hanger! 4 lead changes in 3 minutes. Now that's drama like you don't get every game.

Just remember who told you last Thanksgiving the two teams who would be playing in the Super Bowl. I haven't wavered on that. And yes, within six or seven hours I could look dumb to have reminded you. But I DID predict it.

EDIT (six or seven hours later). Nope. Still perfect and patting my own back. Ravens still playing. Not picking up my commendation certificates quite yet, but my two predicted teams are in the Final Four at least.

BTW, the previously "real" NFL thread got farkled by some religious dope who did a Dusa on it. I think this is the "official" thread now, or should be.

Could you recap for us? I don't recall the claim, but if you made it, I'd be happy to read it. I just hope it wasn't Denver in the Super Bowl.

Yes Martin, they post the score all the time during the game. Steve and I watched it (DirecTV) and what a great game it was. Nothing like the boring and I mean really boring Patriots--Broncos game. What a yawner!!!!!

CB

Tight games with drama and suspense are miles ahead of one sided beat downs...unless your team is doing the beat down :P

Heh. The only prediction I made about Denver was they wouldn't make the playoffs. That was in October.

I believe you don't remember, you were were so distraught after that Thanksgiving night game I was a little bit worried.

But I predicted San Fran and Baltimore would meet again in Indianapolis on Feb 5. I hoped it would cheer you up, but it was a serious prediction.

And Thanks! for the addition to my Obama caricature collection. Some day it could be worth millions. "Can you ear me now?"

The Brothers Harbaugh meeting in the Super Bowl would be an historic event, indeed.

Well, maybe breakfast next Monday?

Two good Monday morning games just over... well, Green Bay is only 10 points behind with a few minutes to go. The two Monday games combined couldn't match that one Sunday early game, which is still "wow"!

The Ravens won. Houston seemed to keep it close but Baltimore never looked in serious trouble. They have a so-so offence, though and will have hands full with the Brady Bunch. The defence as always is terrific, although Ed Reed looked pretty pained in his second injury of the game on the final play.

Eli beat the crap out of Aaron Rodgers. One-on-one, it was no match. The Giants overall looked very, very good. The whole Giants defence, usually good, looked really great against Green Bay. The Giants-49ers game with San Fran next weekend could be fabulous. Green Bay wasn't bad, but the Giants were way better.

Schedule, Monday morning Jan 23, Pattaya time:

0300 Baltimore at New England

0630 Giants at San Francisco

Taunting on airport boards is IN. Top, Denver airport bids good-bye (kast week) to Pittsburgh fans who had come to see the Steelers rip the Broncos. Below, on Monday, a Jay-Z quote says farewell to New Orleans fans on their way home to wait for August.

In case you were on the verge of arguing that Joe Biden is NOT the biggest doofus in current US politics if not in all US history:

Vice President Joe Biden had his "oops" moment Wednesday speaking in a 49er-crazed San Francisco when he told a crowd at a city political fundraiser that "the Giants are on their way to the Super Bowl."

Giants, 49ers, those darned San Francisco people and their team names!! The thing is, being from Delaware, I'm sure Biden has actually claimed to be a NY Giants football fan.

What a doofus.
