Decent wine anywhere?

Recommended Posts

Hey

does anyone know where a decent drop of wine can be had in pattaya???

Cant seem to find a half decent place, Bangkok seems to be sprouting a couple wine bars here and there but no sight in patts....

Can be a restaurant or bar not to fussed...

much appreciated!!

There was a restaurant not far from Soi 16 on Walking Street that always had some very well stocked wine racks but I can't remember it's name. Maybe MM knows where I mean.

Cafe De Amis or Casa Pascal do great wine, also you can buy good wine in Tescos, not cheap any where, but you can get good wine if you want it.

Will try out cafe de Amis over the next couple weeks, tesco is always handy for getting wine in good selection, never tried anything local though seen it about but never crossed my mind will sample soon! Cheers

Been to Cafe de Amis...and Pascal........I've found Cafe le Mar on Jomtien beach to have as a good selection. Not cheap.......buy bottles not by the glass.

My Australian Shiraz was a cheeky little thing....I was immensely amused by its presumption!

If you're having a meal, the Star Restaurant in Jomtiem is good. As you get to Jomtiem from Pattaya, the road swings to the left when you get to the sea, and its about 100 yards along facing the sea, you can't miss it. Big sing in blue with picture of star outside. Had lots of really good meals there as well, max I paid ws about 300 baht, wine is around 100/120 baht or so per glass. Uniformed staff in black skirts and white blouses really good.

Friendship sell decent Italian table wines from around 385 baht for a 2 litre bottle. Those with a discerning palate may find it a trifle on the dry side but it may be enhanced by the addition of a tiny drop of blackcurrant cordial which gives it a slightly fruity flavour.

I add a squeeze of lime to my San Mig, does that make me a beer philistine?

I hate it when a pip falls in.

I wouldn't drink wine though, purely for homosexuals.

When a man comes home hot and thirsty from work, a cold brew will do......

A friend of mine and his mate used to clean Oliver Reed's windows when he lived in Wimbledon. They used to do his on a Saturday and leave his house till last because he would invite them in for a drink if he was home. They used to get so pissed by the early evening it was all they could do to drive home let alone walk or get on a bus.

He also got them to do his garden on a Sunday and gave them a nice Sunday lunch afterwards and then he got them on the sherbert after their meal and they'd all be roaring drunk again but it got to be more than they could handle after a while and they were relieved when he was away filming some weekends. They thought the world of him and said he was a smashing bloke although he could be very boisterous when in his cups.

Yes one of the great all time characters. I still remember him turning up for a Parky interview 'as a newt'.

No but it's ironic considering your post below.

You're right there!

I think we've all got a soft spot for Oliver.......But by your definition he must be certified as, 'light in the loafers'. I'm sure I've seen him in a blouse and wig sipping wine!

...Think he was a musketeer!
