A View from the South - Songkhla Lake and Koh Yo

Recommended Posts

Songkhla City is nestled between the Gulf and Songkhla Lake, or Thale Sap Songkhla which includes Yo Island, home to some of the best seafood restaurants in the region. The island also provides a stepping stone for the main highway between Had Yai and Nakhorn Sri Thammarat across the two Tinsulanonda bridges.

Yeh, that's what I thought MM. CT reports short on words of explanation for our education?... it just isn't the same...

Some beautiful photos though (nobody about?).

Fantastic photographs, thanks for sharing.

I agree with Andy above that you have wetted our appetite and I for one would like to know a little more about the area and may even schedule a visit. Is that area safe from the border terrorism?

Andy/Severn,

I've sent you a PM. Hopefully it explains the lack of text.

Severn,

Re: border terrorism. There does seem to be an almost annual incident outside of the main area, so it's really about the "risk" as not many places are absolutely "safe" nowadays, e.g. I wouldn't choose to be travelling around London over the next couple of months. However, I do believe that if the Pattani mob want to escalate things a notch or two and attract more international attention, Phuket or somewhere on the Andaman coast around Krabi would be a more likely "soft" target than Hat Yai or Songkhla.
