Previously I have stayed at the RG and Jomtien Boathouse. Although I enjoyed my stay at both places and rate the RG very highly, for my next trip I fancy staying at the north end of town. I am thinking somewhere close to the soapies and soi 6.

My budget is 1500 to 2000b a night and I don't need to include food into that. Places with a balcony, swimming pool, room safe, no guest hassles and not too noisy would tick all of my boxes.

Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

The only one that comes to mind near the 3-major MP's and Soi-6 would be a Hotel located on Beach Rd @ Soi-2 "The Beach ???" can't remember the exact name.. It is a multi story Hotel next to the Boat House and has balconeys. I have a friend who always stays there and the rooms are a good size with an excellent view of the sea from the upper floors.

I told myself I wouldn't post another recommendation for the Mark-Land on Soi 1 because it has gotten to popular. But since this is a board where I have gotten a lot of information over the years, I can't not respond without a guilty conscience.

I like the Mark-Land very much. It is at the north end of Pattaya. The rooms are large and very clean and so are the bathrooms. I have only stayed in the standard rooms on the 10th floor. Each room has good air con, a refrigerator, plenty of closet space. Ask for an odd number room because every room has a balcony. The odd number rooms have a balcony with a north to south view of Pattaya. The even numbered rooms have a north view. There is a beautiful glassed in restaurant on the top floor (27th) where the buffet breakfast is served. It is a beautiful place to take a companion for a drink and a view of the sunset. At night they have a lady singer in the restaurant and it is never crowed. The food and service is very good. The rate is around 1,100 Baht depending on when you go. They have a very nice pool area on the 5th or 6th floor. Very clean and never crowed or noisy. The pool area overlooks Pattaya Bay. I have had the pleasure of bringing back two companions at a time and never had a hassel or paid a joiner fee. Big C is near there and up the soi at Beach Road they have a new complex of several beer bars.

I stay there a month from late November to the middle of December every year. I don't think I would stay anywhere else.

Please don't stay there and tell everyone else not to also. I don't need the competiton for the rooms.

Fonz,

Mike Beach does have a lift.  However no in room safe but they do have security boxes at the front desk.  Mike's Beach and Mike Orchid are both owned by the Mike's Mall group.  I stayed at Mike's Beach last month and Mikes Orchid was still under construction.  It should be opened by now or in the near future.

Welkom Inn on Soi 3 has two rooms with baclonies, VIP 1 and VIP 2.  Although they are next to eachother VIP 1 has the MUCH nicer view.  They overlook the beer garden where the frelancers hang out in the afternoon.

Welkom Inn only has a house sage but has a small swimming pool, gret food and to be sure no guest hassles.   These rooms with balconies are about 1000 baht a night.

Fonz,

It appeared that the Mike Orchid Resort would be open first part of February. On January 10 they were moving in all of the beds, curtains, and other furniture. Looks like it will be nice.
