I suggest you have a look when your in Pty, get a hotel for a few days and shop around........any condo good enough for my humble standards costs around 12/14 K per month + electric and water....so total around 16-18K per month. This will get you a delux studio about 40 m2

There are condos that start around 5K per month but one mans meat is anothers gravey!

try this link for condos

Jack,

What's best is "Up to you"  ;D ;D  With the condo, besides paying for the utilities you'll usually have to pay extra for daily maid service.  If you want to cook your meals then the condos will have a kitchen while only a few of the hotels will have this feature.  More of the hotels will be near the main drag while the condos will be located where there is less noise from traffic.

You are going to be there when things are slow so many of the hotels should be willing to deal because of your long stay.

You mentioned that your looking for a low rate,  (we need Chico's input)  I've seen the Siam Sawasdee hotel advertise monthly rates as low as 9,000 a month.

If I were you I would do as H suggested, get a room for a few days and look around.  As far as girl friendly, usually only the upscale hotels will be a problem although some of the hotels that are guest friendly will charge you if you bring back more than 1 TG.

Just a repeat of the above information.  Until you are here and see for yourself what you are willing to put up with, you can't really decide or have someone else decide for you.  One person mentioned the Sawasdee and I just want to tell you that I have seen the rooms there and have a closet at home in the States that is bigger.  I'm serious!

Usually the condos will give you more room for your buck and the further you are willing to travel will also lower your costs.  There are some damn cheap rooms to be had if you go down some of the Sois off Jomtien Beach Road.

Cheers

hi guys im sorry but i seem to be putting this baddly what im looking for is input from guys who are pro condo, and why, or pro hotel and why, im a cheap charlie so dont want to spend more than 14/16000baht a month but i love to lay by the pool with a cold drink on those long lazy afternoons i have arthritis and want to stay on the baht bus route or very near the room size is not really important as long as it has a large bed and air con tv and a good large shower (in turkey i had to change rooms cause i couldn,t fit through the shower door)so far i like the koenig (if this hotel was on the baht bus route i would have booked it already) but it is a little bit farther off the bus route than i would like.I hope this gets the results i want thanks jack

I understand the Cherry Hotel (don't know quality I must admit) will do long term deals around the Bt300 per day mark out of high season. Location on 2nd Road, South Pattaya, right on the baht bus routes to North Pattaya and Jomtien.

As for hotels over condos, well I reckon the cost benefits of condos are probably better when renting for 6mths plus. For 6 weeks, I'd get an hotel and have a look around if you didn't like it. Maybe take a week and tell them that if you like it you'll stay if the rate is right.

sinbinjack.

I hope this is what your after. For a long stay I prefer a Condo. It,s more like a home and usually have a nice sitting room, cable TV, DVD, A/Con,balcony and a small kitchen and a pool. Not that you will be cooking much but it comes in handy for breakfast, especially if you have had a big night and do not want to go out to early.Get one fitted out to Western standards and you should find the shower and bathroom facilities good. The prices should be in your price range say from 12000 to 15000 a month plus Water 7 Electricity for what is a short stay. Most Condo owners look for longer term rentals because its a pain getting the utility meters read each time a tenant moves in and out and will therefore charge a lot less for a 6 or 12 month lease.

Have a look at the Viewtalay Condo's as they fit your criteria of Pool, bus route etc. There on the baht bus route to Pattaya, takes about 10 minutes without traffic and 300 metres from Jomtiem beach.

With a Condo you have to either do your own housekeeping or arrange a cleaner to come in, whereas a Hotel does it for you.

Hope this helps and have a great holiday.

sinbinjack,

I stayed in a condo last September/October. This past December/January I switched to a hotel.

The condo will likely give you a lower price even when you take into account that you will have to pay for water and electricity as extras.

For anything less than a 2 month stay I would choose a hotel. Especially in low season where you can likely strike almost as good a deal. My reason for that is geared toward the experience I had with TG's.

Most do not like the fact that condo's are not cleaned and supplied with fresh towels and bed linen's on a daily basis. I tried to get my condo owner to have the cleaning staff clean my room everyday and was willing to pay for it (120 baht/day). He said it couldn't be done as it would upset the entire cleaning schedule.

If you can find a condo or maid to clean the place daily, then a condo would be better as others have suggested.

I did run into a board member my last trip who lives in Pattaya year round. His solution to the cleaning was to get his TG of the night to clean his place the next morning as part of the deal. Works for him.

Having only been to Pattaya twice before my experiences have been with Hotels.  For convenience  :D and location you cant go wrong.

Treat yourself to a holiday, spoil some TG's and simply eat out etc.  No-one gets out of bed for the "free" breakfast, too many other things to do in bed... ;D

Remember if you tret the TG good you will benefit in the long time.... :D
