Eastiny Place ...Deposit required?

Recommended Posts

I have booked a room at Eastiny Place for a little less than two weeks in mid January.  The rate is 900 baht is a nite.  Depending on one's opinion on the value of the Baht the rate is okay or maybe a liitle higher than normal.  For me I am happy with having a reservation at a hotel which seems to be highly recommended by many posters and it is in a good location.  I have only one concern.. I am arriving at Pattaya a little after 7:00 pm and I am not being asked for a deposit.  Is this normal for this time of the year?  I just reconfirm my reservation and nothing was said about a deposit.  I prefer not to have to give a deposit only because it sounds like a hassle (from some of the posts that I have read) to give a deposit.  Can anyone one tell about me about their past experiences with deposits for Hotel rooms in Pattaya?  Thanks in advance for any input.

P.S.  I hope i can find a good shower technician! ;D

Hotel deposits are a hit and miss type of thing.

Many Hotels that have Mini bars in the room like to charge a basic deposit, as it saves them having to argue with the client when checking out if anything is missing from the bar, like wise Towels.

However, some hotels WILL charge a deposit on arrival even if they dont state it on their confirmation.

The Woraburi is like this.

PATFAN,

I now stay at the Eastiny Inn, same owners as the Eastiny Place durning all my trips to Pattaya. Arrriving next week for the holidays, I was ask for a deposit for the first time there. I just made email reservation for April (Sonkran) and wasn't asked for a deposit. I was told by Mark, the manager, the deposit was only for the Christmas holidays. He said the number of 'no shows' is why the deposit in high season. Last year (Christmas) I didn't have to make deposits in Pattaya or Bangkok, because of the low number of travelers do to 'SARS' and the war.

Bottom line, if you gave a confirmation from the Eastiny Place, don't worry, your room will be there for you.

Thanks, guys for your input.  It is good to know that I should have a nice room waiting for me when I get to Pattaya.  I was a bit concern because it was around the high season and from many of the recent posts...  hotel rooms were getting harded to get.  In the U.S. You normally have to use a credit card to guarantee your room if you are arriving after 6:00.  Thanks again.

Stayed at Eastiny Place in Nov. Nice place, no deposit req. But when I checked in they didn't have the reservation, I provided them with the email corraspondance (sp?) they found a room , appoligized for the location of the room (view of the parking lot) and asked if it was ok to give me a better room the next day. I said fine and I got a room with a view of the beach, nice. The staff was great. only down side is a 300BT (per lady)"change lady" fee if you bring home more than 1. Cost me 1500BT extra one night. Keep your reciept if you pay this fee. I took a pair in early for short time then came in later with 2 others for LT, staff had had a shift change and asked about the fee, I just showed them the reciept and was ok.

If you do not use a credit card then many hotels will ask for a deposit to cover minibar/telephone costs. This is quite reasonable. They may also ask for the room rent in advance if you do not use a credit card.

The Eastiny (Inn) did try to make me sign the blank credit card slip in advance one time, which I flatly refused to do. They backed down - but that is a totally unreasonable request from a hotel. It is like giving them a blank check.

Being asked to sign a blank CC slip is something that almost eerytime has happended to me in USA Hotels, but never in Thailand.

I had the occasion to stay at the Eastiny for one night a couple of months ago and was asked for either a credit card impression or a 1000 baht deposit against the mini bar usage.  Since I was trying to pay cash to avoid leaving any trails, I did do the deposit with them and had absolutely no trouble getting it back the next morning when I checked out.

Cheers

The Eastinys also on occasions, try to get you to pay for your whole stay on arrival (eg 3 weeks room rate). Refuse point blank to do this, as you lose your bargaining power when they start pissing you about.  [smiley=deal.gif] [smiley=cussing2.gif]
